The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

It ONLY showed my 2nd and not my 1st and had a bold statement on top that I was NOT fully immunized re: COVID. I called the clinic that gave me both vaccinations and, after looking me up, told me that while it showed I attended the appointment for my 1st shot, it did not have me "ticked" as actually receiving it. They are correcting it - but worth checking.
Good looking out. Mine shows my first but not second so I hope it's just a matter of time for it to filter through.

This rollout is an absolute shambles. Maybe I read/watch/listen to the wrong media or pass by the wrong billboards but have not seen a single advert advising people to get vaccinated. No communications beyond press conferences and the news. I’ve seen (and reported) more vaccine misinformation than information and I’m more likely to get a letter from Clive Palmer than the department of health.....
I have only seen some facebook ads.
Basically stating vaccinations have started and they are voluntary.
Pathetic.

I watch very little live FTA (usually record so can skip ads or watch streaming), but have seen the Nick Coatsworth ad a couple of times especially during late night news, and the channel 9 promo.

Today I noticed in the lifts at work there are now vaccination ads on rotation on the screens which are usually advertising travel deals.

Now we have people who’ve already had a first dose, worried and cancelling their second dose and this is as much to do with the complete lack of public information. The get vaccinated message should be in every commercial break.

Apparently there has been some sort of campaign - I did see an ad but it was so boring I didn’t even read it properly. Rumour has it that a campaign targeting younger people is starting in a few weeks.

Doses injected on Sunday 20th June was 34,712. Previous Sunday's were 32,533, 32499, 60,061, 32 499

And this type of detail really should have been made public since the early days as they collect all of that data as they inject.

Even if not daily, it should be at least weekly. Though daily should readily be achievable.

I wonder why the inequality - Victoria got an extra 100k Pfizer doses for a smaller population, but NSW only gets 50K? Its not like NSW is performing worse on utilization.

The breakdown of data needs to be by vaccine type as well.

So much more at play than solely population.
Simple theory, simple minds.

Whole host of deals, contracts etc going on that we the plebs public unaware of.

They also need to take some responsibility for not properly managing their doses by allowing walk-ins and first shots without booking second doses at the same time, so they accurately knew what they needed 3 weeks out.

Vic got a temporary boost for 3 weeks (more supply than any other states even NSW who has a larger population and is desperate for more Pfizer), it was clearly communicated as a temporary increase, so they needed to plan for when supply reverted to the usual levels.

NSW Premier indicated over the weekend she will be tabling that NSW needs more Pfizer doses due to higher risk in NSW due to current delta cases and the size of arrivals program (which dwarves Victoria's).

Whilst ever the supply is limited, allocation should be based on demographics of the population and proportionately allocating supply.
You seem to have missed the over twenty statements by the Fed Govt about managing the 1st/2nd dose issue.

The Fed Govt has stated repeatedly that they will manage the stockpiling of doses for 2nd injections and States should NOT hold back vaccine supplies for 2nd doses.

But now given the Federal Govt did not think about what providing an extra 26,000 doses a week would mean for 2nd doses - it is the Vic Govt's fault!

Another fail for the Fed vaccine program.

No i didnt. The feds manage second doses for the regular schedule, but in the press announcement Hunt stated this was 100k extra doses over 3 weeks, enough for 50k extra people, so obvious they were meant to manage to that number and not assume they would get yet another bonus 100k in the follwoing 3 weeks (if that was the case the announcement would have been for 200k extra doses over 6 weeks).

"This week will allow them to work through some of their existing inventory and we'll provide that extra 100,000 doses, that will support 50,000 individuals receiving vaccines, over the coming weeks," Mr Hunt said."

I have seen Nick Coatsworth repeatedly on TV.
Me too. And it has ZERO impact. I thought TV ads were screened by a test audience first, for impact. See Creativity in Advertising: When It Works and When It Doesn’t

I would suggest this as an ad: Don't tell the parents, if they kick the bucket, we will get enough for a housing deposit. Another ad, get them into a nursing home 'to speed things up' . The parents get their shots, congratulating each other how they sabotaged the nursing home option. In the commercial a placement for 'Time is Ticking' , don't miss out, for the follow on ads.

Afterwards, a teaser ad' Over 40? Have not yet had your vaccination shots. Let Grimm and Reaper Lawyers manage you last will and testament. We also provide a 'Living Will' in case you get brain damage then permanently incapacitated due to new highly infectious covid strains. We also specialize in nursing home placements. Grimm and Reaper, your friendly Covid positive lawyers. 'Trust the sickle, your assurance that we care'.

Next Idea. Talking Pets. A talking cat complaining its human lives alone and is not yet vaccinated against covid. If Susan dies, there will nobody to adopt me, and I'll be put down ..Foiled by a doctor calling her on a corded landline phone for an appointment (1950's decor).

Not edgy enough. We all know the cat will be forced to eat Susan the crazy cat lady.

The reports of people not being able to get second doses of Pfizer in Vic are not accurate. Bookings remain available to do so, though some venues are more available than others.

However, maybe vaccine hesitancy for second doses is not just amongst those assigned AZ?

Vaccination doses for Monday 21 June were 128,643.

So down, but only say 10% off the recent average Mon-Fri dose rate and so not too bad given the recent news.

Well at the moment the majority of those eligible for second AZ are over 70, as 1B only started in late March. This cohort dont have another vaccine option so not likely to see much of a drop-off.

However, as we get into mid July and second doses start to include the over 50s (who started AZ process later) you will see the real numbers refusing a second dose start to be reflected.

I think that part of the issue with the 2nd booking - at least with Pfizer - is that people cannot (at least here in VIC that I've heard) book both vaccines at the same time. You need to make the 2nd booking separately, and the most proactive makes the 2nd when they get home from the first but in my mind this is not the most user-friendly approach.
