Not all openers average 46.
Or can win a test in a session.
Simples. (!?)
We'll soon see if his best days are indeed gone....but he did have good days.

Averages near 60 in Aus and under 28 in every other country bar SA and Bangladesh.

Also the first opener in history to have 8 single digit scores in a test series.

Not banging the door down....maybe out in the front garden somewhere.
Sure they'll be rotated through the turnstile again soon.
Oh that's right, Langer's 'door' that nobody was banging down in shield because nobody was consistently averaging over 35, then he had to come out and re-clarify it given he was so far off the mark (including where Burns was averaging 45+ and in the top few run scorer for the last 3 shield seasons - killed one of the selectors cats though I hear on the grapevine though....

Relax, you sure excite easily!
That's a very long sentence. Well done.
Joe Burns has had nearly as many chances as Mitch Marsh. Maybe needs 9 lives like that selector's cat

Sorry
Joe Burns as played 16 tests - average 40- - not quite 31 tests.

Been recalled and dropped a few times.....
Thats what I mean by chances, not aggregate number of Tests played.
Well googled though buddy, nice work on the stats

If pointing out how our selectors/coach stupidly use the one of the most overused sayings for the reasoning in selections is exciting easy, maybe we need to get out more...(and thanks for the grammatical assessment )

C'mon really, comparing Burns and MMarsh chances. One has 4 centuries and averages over 40 with the bat in Test cricket, but can't get an extended run - the other is MMarsh (we don't really need to see his stats again do we).

The Queensland fish are biting today, marvellous!

Maybe Joe would be good to go if he could bat at Manuka for all his Tests?
Average of 11 vs Sth Africa.....and 55 vs NZ, 48 v Windies. His numbers weighted by poor opponents.
Bye, Joe,back to the Gabba for some Shield games.

Maybe all players on fringe and some current players- like bancroft, harris wade and warner need some shield games under their belts to find some form and give the selectors are reason to pick them or keep them.
I think most cricket fans wants anybody wearing baggy green to do well - but doesnt mean we have to agree with the selectors on team selection and can highlight inconsistencies.

Nah, just calling you out on some weak arguments (which you've presented some more again in your last reply).

Didn't take all that long for the Aussies to regain some of their nastiness... Wade and Warner appeared particularly unpleasant on Day 3, and Stokes' assessment of Warner's character (cough*ing prick) was pretty much spot on for my money.

Pretty much applies to Stokes as well.

If you say so. What he did in Bristol was ugly and probably would have earned him jail time. But I haven’t seen any poor behavior from him on the field during this series or the World Cup. I’ve just seen a guy playing his heart out.

Warner's got to double figures and increased his series average. He's helped us to our best opening stand of the series too.

That ought to be enough for the selectors to show some faith. At this rate he's on track to fire in the second innings at the SCG, securing us a crucial 3-0 series win.

Well into the tail now with Smith failing for the first time. The Ashes tied at 2-2. Remarkable considering how awful England have been.

This is about as good as it gets for our batting. Keep relying on 2 batsmen and if they fail we're in trouble.

Ever the pessimist :p
