Thanks for all the comments. I find it frustating that, I had flown Business from Perth via Melbourne to Sydney, then last sector was Aeropelican. Thought they may cut me some slack, but nope.

I am 10 SC to WP and not flying for a few weeks, so dont think VA will give me WP. Might send them a email and see what response I get.

The counter staff at Aeropelican told me the rules changed around 12mths ago and that the high flyers buy a full airfare from QF, then get credit for it later. I was tempted to do this, but decided against it. Now VA has business class, I am sure to look at them now. Have had enough of QF, the staff are stuck up IMHO, well maybe not all, but its seems they dont like helping much.

I understand the rules etc, just think they need to be flexable at times. I have spent over 20k of my own money on flights all with QF with the last year.

gowatson's post at 3:39 was on the money, your SG card would have gained you access (and an immediate match) to the Virgin Australia lounge at T2.

I checked the timings; you missed this post by a little more than 10 minutes.

The clock IS ticking!

As a WP and LTG I think I might be able to add a comment or two.

Queen Elizabeth II, I believe that is how her majesty should be referred to, is not chasing the loyalty and business of the 99 year old members of the UK population.

Sir Donald Bradman, I believe that is how he should be referred to, was a sportsmen who played, more or less, for the love of the game. (It certainly wasn't the money - they were paid next to nothing.) He expressed no disappointment at not averaging 100 - that is one of the reasons he was the best batsman the world has seen.

VA/DJ seems prepared to give a little leeway to foster loyalty, whereas QF seems hell bent on sticking to the rules. My first hand experience of this was with the new PG level. Despite surpassing the 2100 SC's I needed when I started my "QF year", and having more than 500SC's of travel booked the QF customer service staff stuck to their newly modified rules. All it actually achieved was to lose QF $4k of business.

You should change your signature after this post ;)

Yes! Well done Serfty - another one out of the QC to free up space. Maybe another 2-3 dozen and the WiFi will start working. Keep up the good work old man!

;)

How does anyone get denied entry? I have flashed my WP card for entry into almost every Australian lounge, and haven't had it scanned since NGCI arrived, nor asked what flight I was on.

Flash your card, and walk straight in. I have used this for arrivals access, and when dropping other WP family members off, even in T2.

If only the OP had a WP card then that might actually work.

BTW you should come to the ADL QP with me some time. They always ask to scan my WP card.....

I'm really interested in this. My experience is MEL/PER/SYD and a flash of the WP card has worked every time, since the fall of ATA.....however my colleagues report that at ADL it is different. I'm flying through ADL in NOV so will see how the flash, head down, and charge approach works.

I believe with a SG card it should be the same, no? Or do they routinely scan SG cards? I'll let you know about ADE next week.

Good luck. I do know other people who get in with a card flash in ADL. But they have been rather rude/short to me at times. Probably doesn't help that I'm there so often, have told them the one time I used ATA and I have expressed my frustration at them stuffing me around.

Best one was when I scanned the NGCI pole in the QP entry, waited for the green light from the pole, walked 3 steps and they asked to see my SMS after watching all this happen.

Fortunately, I don't have to see them much anymore as I mostly flight DJ out of ADL now.

My 2c worth. I have just finished BNE MEL HKG SYD BNE (why go direct etc) on QF in Y (actually it was in O ) I am WP and was traveling with wife and 2 teenagers. I had no problem accessing J lounge in BNE or SYD or F lounge in MEL or HKG. I just asked nicely and always was told no problem

Experience is what you get when you don't get the result you were after...
