SYD to JFK in J with CX - flight report

Know that route well. With an alcohol sensitivity, I prefer half an Ambion (called in the USA or Zolpidem in Aus). Commonly know as Stilnox.

Drugs: Likely to down a bottle of champagne in the lounge and at least another in the first few hrs of the flight. About 4 hrs in Hong Kong before connecting flight to Sydney.

We were in the lounge late 2015 and I cannot really remember much about it, other than it was adequate for a couple of hours. I have read that it has had a revamp about a year ago.

Always busy and noisy, but food is quite good. I find the quiet room underused and a respite well located for access to the buffet.

Yes although it can be busy and noisy but if you can get a seat near the window it's a reasonable place to pass the time, but not somewhere to get any earlier than necessary.

Just checking lounge options for Cathay JFK flight tomorrow. Is this the only option?

American Airlines Flagship Lounge | Airport lounges

Any good?
I used it new years eve - one of the better AA lounges.

Champagne not a well known label but quite drinkable.

There are two sections - on entry head to the right of the service desk and right again for some limited table service with some snack menus. I had some taquitoes which were very good.

To get back to the main lounge area head back past the service desk and down a 20 metre hallway.

Ended up there for 7 hours after my Europe bound flight was delayed. By US standards, not bad but quite basic though good drinks range. There is a quiet area called I think the "Flagship Bridge", the alcohol range is the same with however full bar service but you can order food off a small al-la-carte menu with much nicer options than in the main lounge plus there is hardly anyone in there. As you enter and approach the lounge concierge, there is a rope to the right which takes you straight in, probably a good idea to ask when you arrive. Myself and another lady impacted by the delay were ushered in there so they could keep us updated with flight information and it was much better than the first few hours spent in the main lounge area. I don't know if you can actually access this area from the main lounge.

Had probably the best burger I've ever had in my life and some type of Korean "taco" which I would have happily ordered again and again and the staff were really friendly (probably because they weren't that busy)

I did earlier manage to get myself into First Dining as no one was at the Concierge, did get served a nice Champagne but a different server came around and kicked me out after working out my lack of status and flight details meant I wasn't entitled to be.

Best drugs to stock up on are melatonin and ZzzQuil - the latter being the sleepy component of the NyQuil cold medicine (also excellent). Can also get Benedryl too - anti-histamine tablet.

Bumper protectors are commonly seen given how tight people park.

Now in lounge. Thanks to those who suggested turning right. Great small lounge with personal service. Staff at entry desk seemed reluctant to let me in and suggested it was closed and that I would be more comfortable in the main lounge. They seemed very surprised that I knew about it. I ignored their suggestions and encouragement and we are now the only people in the small lounge!

Ok. I lied. One last drink. Asked for the Napa Valley Cab Sav. Told they were out and offered this 'Google' wine instead! No idea what it is.

Ended up being 6 passengers in total in this lounge. Just saw our plane land. Going to checkout the main lounge before heading to gate 47.

Seems I don't know when to stop. Got my Napa Valley Cab Sav in the main lounge plus some desserts. Definitely better off in the smaller lounge.

Seems only the plane taking off will stop me. Shot of agave before I board.

Made it to Hong Kong. Now sober. ...
Presuming *O, a CX lounge or two should sort that out ...

(FWIW, I had a 1:30am departure from BOS on CX. I treated it like 4:30PM which it was in HKG. So 5 hours being fed and "watered" and watching two movies then 8.5 hours sleep. Wake up for breakky and another movie before a 6am arrival.)
