SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Each traveller got automatic 40SD Changi voucher
Maybe SQ has been enhanced

About 20 years ago (+/-) we were travelling 5pax KUL-SIN-SYD with SQ with 3 pax under 4
At KUL, they said pick up BP for SYD in SIN. đź’© Antenna activated of course

đź’© Antenna was correct - over booked and punted to another SQ 4 hours later.
The vouchers: SGD $50 each.
The cash: SGD $500 each.
Did not need to put on a DYKWIA show either to get vouchers /cash
They must have had at least SGD$2500 at the transfer desk.

Even if it were an option, it's a terribly inefficient use of points.

One-way PE Saver: 53.5k miles
One-class upgrade: 46.5k miles, for a total of 100k miles one-way.

Just booking J saver in the first place would only have been 72k miles.

One-way PE Saver: 53.5k miles

Upgrades are not available from Award tickets, and from commercial fares not available from the most restrictive (aka cheapest) economy, PE or business class tickets.

The only way to "upgrade" from an award ticket is to spend the extra miles for the higher class. If not available at time of booking, then waitlist in the higher cabin and pray to the waitlist gods that the waitlist comes through, which is very unlikely, but if it does come through then it's a matter of paying the reticketing fee and whatever additional miles are required on the award chart (so in this instance an extra 18.5k miles).
