SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Anyone unable to change their FF number on an SQ booking through the website?

I changed two bookings at the same time from SQ to OZ, one worked, one failed:
"The frequent flyer number is invalid. Please provide a valid frequent flyer number or present your frequent flyer card at the airport check-in."

My only guess is that one failed because it has a leg that was upgraded using KF miles.
I had asked when doing the upgrade whether I can still earn points on another star alliance member for the original fare class.

I guess will give them a call or correct on check-in and confirm that it's on my boarding pass.
I have heard stories of frequent flyer numbers becoming "sticky" to the airline if they process an upgrade...

Makes sense from their point of view, they want members to earn their own miles themselves, but when it comes to husband/wife situations it does seem too restricted.
Well, technically you are earning the points from the credit cards and then buying the miles.

Correct. Their net position (at least from a financial position) is still the same, regardless of whose MR account transfers miles over to a particular KF account. Same company (American Express) paying SQ/KF the same amount of money to "deposit" x amount of miles into a particular KF account.
So from a purely monetary point of view it shouldn't matter whose MR account is used to transfer to any given KF account, though if this is the method being used by people to "sell miles" to one another, then it's understandable that SQ/KF doesn't allow transfers to your KF account from a transfer partner account that's in the name of someone else.
Ah, their rules, so we have to abide by them...

On the ‘World Day of Prayer’ clearly I have been answered:

2 x Saver W/L SYD-SIN-ZRH new R cleared when expectation ZERO!

Have 2 x J MEL-SIN-ARN conf but I need let the Ette try new R - seriously I would be just as happy in J but we do what we do.

W/L created maybe 6 or 7mths ago as soon as I discovered new 380 to run on SIN-ZRH route - SO - advice to all - add W/Ls and hope they clear - but as always have a back up plan in place.

Congrats CE! When did you book this ticket (place a waitlist request)?

Unrelated to the above, but is there any way to extend Gold status? Mine is due to expire on 30 June but I have a MEL-SIN-LHR flight booked on I July (retuning on 10 Aug, arr. MEL 12 Aug.). Would like to be access Gold lounges, esp. on the return flight, both at LHR and at SIN where I have a while to wait between flights.

If these are paid tickets you should qualify for the Changi $$ promotion. One of those vouchers will get you two-three hours of lounge time in singapore. If this is an award, you can still use the lounge for something like $25.

On 1 July you should have no issues using the lounge as there is a delay of 1-2 days in the system for the down grade to happen.

hypotheitical scenario questions folks,
ive recently broken up with my partner and we were planning a few big trips using Kris points,
anyway the expiry is 3 years since transfer,

1. does that mean if we book a flight at end of year 3 for year 4 we can travel year 4?
2. if this year 4 booking is cancelled in year 4 , do we get our points back?
3. what is the penalty in $ or points for cancelling a flight? and is there a time frame we can do it up to?
4. based on peoples experiences, do the points requirements change often? ive noticed qantas and velocity based fares seem to change every now and again
thank you everyone

Yes. It appears the OP has a return trip. But they can collect the vouchers either outbound or return (if collecting outbound they have have them ready to use the lounge straight away).
That's good to know. Looks as though I should give Gold lounge entry a try on the outward journey, and put in for the voucher on the return, as it need to be used straight away. Which lounges does the voucher give access to?

Any hope of lounge access on departure from MEL or at departure from LHR at the start of the return journey?

The vouchers don't need to be used straight away... it's just if you collect them on the outbound then you have them ready to be used straight off the plane from London (you don't have to queue up to get them). I forget which lounge it is, but it's on the Singapore airport website. Colleagues from work used it and thought it was great. Very cheap to add additional hours as well.

On departure from MEL you can use the pay lounge. I found a link (Expedia?) that was actually cheaper than going through the lounge itself... $50 or something? LHR also has pay-in lounges, but I don't know the details.
