Thanks aspro2 :)

So fare is A$8399 +++, which is considerably cheaper than FRWSTAR1 (this fare is more restrictive than that though).

Best routing to maximise experience, F sectors, PPS earning and avoid (for now) 77W surcharge would seem to be

SYD-SIN-HKG-SFO//JFK-FRA//LHR-SIN-SYD

The backtracking rule prevents extra earning between SIN & NRT by disallowing BKK transit.

3+1.5+6+4.5+6+3=24 PPS sectors.

Thanks for putting up these rules aspro2. I am thinking very carefully about this fare.
Just one small question regarding the 77W restrictions: do they only apply for the mentioned routes or could you book SFO-ICN-SIN (for example) and miss the surcharges?

I'm not sure when that service started, so it might just have been missing from the fare rules because it wasn't active yet. Nonetheless, you almost certainly have to reckon with the surcharges on any 77W route.

SQ adds surcharges for 77W flights once they are confirmed in their schedules. So the only way to beat the surcharge is either award (dang near impossible to get at least in first and business class) or by booking a flight before a switches over to 77W is confirmed.

Does one get a refund in the event that while scheduled on a 77W and a surcharge applied, the flight does not actually get operated by a 77W?

Oh well, it was worth asking the question! It seems it will have to be SQ1 via HKG.

Thanks very much for your assistance.

Can some explain in plain English what these code share rules mean?
I hazard a guess that the SQ flight numbers mentioned are codeshare flight on the "metal" of other carriers and are not permitted to be booked using this fare.

Surpring to me though that this implies several low flight numbers (SQ21-22/SQ37-38) are actually codeshares.

Perhaps if you ask on FT on either the *A or SQ fora.

I think SQ21/22 are the Singapore-New York flight numbers, and SQ37/38 are the Singapore-Loas Angeles flight numbers. I guess they exclude these two 'special' non-stop flights. The others are codeshares with various airlines.

So in other words, with an SQ RTW ticket you can't use the non-stop flights to the US departing out of Singapore.

That's correct.

THE FARE COMPONENT MUST NOT BE ON ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING SQ FLIGHT 0021 THROUGH 0022 SQ FLIGHT 0037 THROUGH 0038 SQ FLIGHT 1000 THROUGH 7999 SQ FLIGHT 9000 THROUGH 9999. NOTE - TRAVEL ON SQ A345 NOT PERMITTED.

Hi having decided to resign with AF because they are bad, I'd like to take the opportunity to fly within star alliance.

I'm currently in France and I would like to buy a RTW ex MNL FRWSTAR1.

May I find a TA in france that will do the job ?

Tks for your reply

Yes a TA in France would get you the ex-MNL fare as 'higher of 2 locations' pricing' rule no longer applies to RWSTARs.

Alternatively you could put together the itinerary on www.staralliance.com, and send it to a *A carrier of your choice to book and price the itinerary.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the higher of 2 locations rule?

The rule that forces you to pay the higher of price of origin vs point of purchase. xONEx fares still have this rule, albeit with Canadian exception. The rule's been eliminated altogether from RWSTAR fares earlier this year, meaning it's now possible to issue an ex-NRT or MNL RWSTAR with an airline or TA in MEL (or CDG in the above example) at the NRT or MNL pricing.
