Hi Folks,
Just got back form a Europe jaunt with the family in SQ J.
SQ flights were sadly not the greatest I've ever experienced.
New A380 J seats are pretty impractical - multiple false calls to attendants.

But, to my questions.
Flew on SQ335 out of Paris (10:50am departure)
Then SQ231 out of SIN bound for SYD (00:45 departure)

No amenity kits on either flight (although we got them on both for the outbound legs)

Is this now the norm for these flights?
Regards,
Peter

I will try to find out today exact status of these J amenity kits availability
Customer Service 1 - We wish to share that previously we have a celebratory festive giveaway to Business Class passengers on all flights (except for Kuala Lumpur) for a period of six weeks (from 25 November 2018 until 5 January 2019) or until depletion of stock.

Customer Service 2 - Regarding Singapore Airlines amenity kits - please be informed that the giveaway is only applicable on selected flight for a certain period. You may refer to below for your reference.

Departing Singapore to Adelaide vice versa: SQ277/276 (06 January 2019 – 16 January 2019)
Departing Singapore to Jakarta vice versa: SQ964/965 (06 January 2019 – 17 January 2019)
Departing Singapore to Taipei vice versa: SQ876/877 (06 January 2019 – 31 January 2019)
Departing Singapore to Fukuoka vice versa: SQ656/655 (06 January 2019 – 04 February 2019)

Hope this helps.

I had one provided SIN-SYD earlier in the month. I'm not sure why they bother, they have cheap and nasty written all over them. Not much beats your own amenities.

Got the black one flying Sin-Adl on Dec30th. The fabric spray would be useful but who would be carrying the laundry bar around?

We used the laundry bar extensively while travelling around Europe in Dec-Jan. But then again there were 5 of us and I insist on everyone packing light and doing washing - good for the soul.......

SQ probably should just stick to their knitting and focus on the amenities provided in the J cabin toilets, and forget kits. Only confuse things by handing out kits on (seemingly) random routes. Those who insist on receiving an amenity kit can make a decision on that basis to avoid flying SQ and not be confused by the amenity kit lottery :p:)

I have never received any SQ teddy bears in my flights over the last year...neither did we get the special amenity kit when we flew out on the 4th....:-(
They don't hand out the bears willy nilly - they are indeed rationed.

May well have been no J Amenity Kits available on the flt you were on due to depletion of stock.

I have had the laundry amenity pack in the past. Used the crease release spray a few times but honestly can't say it made a difference.....

The FA's were quick to hand out the bears to my son but I can't say I have seen them given out any other time.

I have received 6 or more J kits, in what appear to be random circumstances.
In fact, I did the exact same flight 1 week apart SIN-MEL and in the first instance I got none in the second I got one.
I have also been given them as gifts by the cabin crew on a flight where they were not provided to anyone.
I would be interested in finding out if there is a theme, as I find them very useful. The laundry soap bar and fabric spray are great for short business trips.

When Flying in F do you Automatically get a Teddy bear or are they rationed out even to F Pax?

Also, I've heard the Unisex Amenity kits have the candles while the M/F kits have cologne - is this still the case, or are Unisex kits handed out by default?

No auto receipt of Teddies but just ask and you will receive if they have available stock on board - they are really designed for the kids on board and not adults but some of us never grow up do we?

As for amenity kits I still cannot get my head around a candle - a coughking candle? I have asked IFMs and Senior Crew dozens of times - they also just shrug their shoulders and scratch their heads. The whole purpose of an amenity kit is for use whilst on-board - never introduced as a souvenir to take home which they now are - but they are what they are.

The FEMALE / MALE kits are dispensed on SIN outbound flts - UNISEX kits are dispensed on inbound flts unless that has changed in last 6 weeks. I have NFI what is inside kits apart from what I hear - apparently I just never need amenity kits and indeed the Ette has much better purposes for them than what I could ever dream up.

6 weeks? Jeez has it been that long? I cannot have that happening again! :D

I’m not sure the sole purpose of the amenity kit is for it to be used on board. SQ’s tubes of lotions and potions are far too large for total consumption during the flight... they are designed to be taken away if you desire. The mid-sized bottles of cologne are perfect for taking on trips away rather than a full-sized équivalent.

The candle is a nice touch. Inbound pax to Singapore will take it home and use it. Pax outside of Singapore can pack it and take it home too. Oddly enough, I read somewhere that the air freshener market is huge, at least in Australia. The sales figures are astounding. So maybe they’re catering to the market?

Next year I'll be flying Mel - Sin - Bkk RT in
O class. (F saver redemption)

Obviously I'll be expecting the Lalique amenity kit in the Mel - Sin legs, do they hand them out for the shorter Sin - Bkk legs as well?
