Was told recently that a VW R went into get the sensors on the shock absorbers fixed, the owner was then without his car for 3 months.
There was a recall on the turbo and it was easier for VW to put a new engine in it, but they had to wait for the new engines to arrive. Don't know the owner, so no idea if it's true or not.

I’m in the market to replace my MY15 Merc C250. I’ve pretty much decided on the new BMW 330 M Sport, but just biding my time as I predict the new car market will turn decidedly worse in the next 3-12 months with the economic and financial consequences of COVID19.

Just today Genesis released images of the new G80 which caught my attention. 2021 Genesis G80 revealed: Australian debut later this year | CarAdvice

Resale/depreciation aside, that is one fine looking car inside and out. Keen to see one in the flesh when they arrive. The V6 option would be sweet.

If you're in Sydney, there's a showroom at the end of Pitt St Mall opposite the Tiffany. Happened to walk past it yesterday. Interesting place for a showroom!

To answer the original question

whatever GoGet has parked at the end of the street (Corolla right now), whatever me hertz gives me (anything he likes except what I actually booked) or whatever the Uber guy picks me up again.

long ago decided that the economics of owning a car are terrible and built a lifestyle around not owning one. The garage makes an excellent extra room.

For work, I’m getting to drive a lot of electric cars (Hyundais, Teslas, Jaguar Mercedes so far) and continue to be blown away by how good electric driving is. Not enough to buy one but definitely to hire when I get the chance.

At least I get a rental vehicle for free paid by my insurer because my claim is “not at fault”.

Might push the costs of the claim up into the uneconomic level and trigger a write off. NRMA is estimating a 2 week repair (if it is a repair and not a write off) but I think it will take a month.

Interesting that Mercedes have decided to offer 5 year warranty and roadside assistance, backdated to March 1.

Really great when one buys a new Mercedes last November.

Yes the Europeans have been very slack (greedy) in sticking to three year warranties. Kia is now 7.

If modern machinery lasts for 3 years, it should generally last for at least 5-7 so the Europeans won’t lose a lot if their quality remains high.

I hope so - my Audi is out of warranty. I just can’t make up my mind what to go to next.

I own a MY17 Audi SQ5 TDI. Quick, lots of room (i'm 6'5), awesome economy, good power&torque (240kw/650nm), big boot. Had it for a year now, tad boring being Diesel maybe but i'm glad i bought it over a new RS3 costing twice as much. Semi sensible choice ;p
