Meanwhile talks of Scotland and Northern Ireland leaving the UK.

Scotland and Northern Ireland, both of whom voted to Remain, flagged moves to break off a suddenly disunited kingdom in order to stay in the EU.

How I imagine it's in the UK at the moment.

Apparently, there has been such an unprecedented run on Aussies buying UK currency that there is no more available for 2 days. I missed the first part of the news item so I'm not sure which bank said it.

Germany's New "No Means No" Rape Law
by Soeren Kern • July 8, 2016 at 5:00 am
The reforms are unlikely to end Germany's migrant rape epidemic.

When it comes to immigration, political correctness often overrides the rule of law in Germany, where many migrants who commit sexual crimes are never brought to justice, and those who do stand trial receive lenient sentences from sympathetic judges.

"Every police officer knows he has to meet a particular political expectation. It is better to keep quiet [about migrant crime] to avoid problems." — Rainer Wendt, head of the German police union.

"It is unacceptable that asylum seekers are trampling on our society at the same time that they are here seeking our protection." — Prosecutor Bastian Blaut.

This was on Brietbart I love the last paragraph ..

But this will be a big motivator for people / countries to leave the EU ..... Sick of AM ( Angela Merkl) dictating to

An army group in Turkey says it has taken control of the country, with bridges closed in Istanbul and aircraft flying low over Ankara.
PM Binali Yildirim earlier denounced an "illegal action" by a military "group", stressing it was not a coup. He said that the government remained in charge.

What is happening in Europe for goodness sakes and then Nice Summary

A lorry has ploughed through a crowd during Bastille Day celebrations in the southern French city of Nice
At least 84 people are dead, including 10 children
202 were injured, 52 remain in critical condition, 25 are in intensive care
The driver of the lorry was shot dead by police
He has been identified as Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, known to police for violence and petty theft.

Last night, at least 84 people were murdered in the French city of Nice by a Tunisian-born Islamist terrorist, with dozens more victims wounded.

Whether you are pacifists or warmongers, gays or heterosexuals, atheists or Christians, blasphemers or devout, French or Iraqis, jihadi terrorism does not discriminate. Every one of us is a target: Islamist terrorism is genocidal.

When Islamist terrorists target Muslim dissident bloggers, faraway Yazidi women or Israeli girls, it should concern us in the West. Islamists are just sharpening their knives on them before coming for us.

They are sharpening their knifes for us next. We cannot afford to ignore all this.

"We will colonize you with your democratic laws." — Yusuf al-Qaradawi, Egyptian Islamic cleric and chairman of the International Union of Muslim Scholars.

"Beaches, like any public space, must be protected from religious claims. The burkini is an anti-social political project aimed in particular at subjugating women... It is not compatible with the values of France and the Republic. Faced with such provocations, the Republic must defend itself." — French Prime Minister Manuel Valls.

I think the French Prime Minister has a point. As to the previous statement I hope not. That would mean a very different Europe!

Definitely no EU

Glad to see Admin pull it back on topic. But with all the previous posts, looking back over the years with the Iron Curtain, IRA bombings, Basque separatists, etc. etc., there has always been turmoil, but I for one would never miss an opportunity to travel or be in Europe. Part of my work is in northern Greece, Thrace, and unsurprising there is tension there from Turkey, Bulgaria, et al. but its been going on for 2000 years! Life is far too short and if I ever do make that old folks home I don't want to be sitting on the balcony saying "I wish I did this, I wish I did that" rather than telling great travel stories......

It was a split decision for moderation in Europe on Sunday, but the balance seemed to tip toward a new fragility for an already endangered European Union!

I am waiting for it to all fall apart it's just when?
