Europe is always affordable.

Bought a really nice leather jacket in 1994. Parts of it still fit but not all at once. Shame.

If you go to their central bank, I am sure you can get the money converted to Euro.

Edit: It appears Lira not convertible to Euro.

It's not unexpected nor surprising! Switzerland may have applied to join, but something like this would usually be subject to a public vote. I would have been surprised had they voted to join!
