Shop to Fly Faster - Transfer Flybuys to Velocity

I didn't think Velocity SC accrued towards lifetime anything?
I'm not suggesting it does. I'm just saying once you have LTG with QF, grabbing some VA SCs without even changing your shopping pattern is a no brainer in terms of giving you options.

Imaging for example a Pinot loving hobby farmer from Tasmania. His teenage children want to travel courtesy of "bank of dad". Some cheap VA flights for the kids + SC from shopping + family pooling and our mystery man from Tassie would be VA silver in a jiffy ;)

I agree.
I'll take whatever points and SC I can from anywhere, I'm happy to do so. The current earn rates are not something that will drive my spend to Coles.
Yes, just like the EY "Tier Miles" I have earned thru Flybuys, over 2K - need 25000 for base elite without crediting a single flight to EY- unlikely to happen in time and in any case my Velocity WP has more pull on EY.

So with no need to change spend - the 120 SC's I may garner will make it easier to re-qualify my Velocity status.

Given I have chosen VA over QF as my carrier for my business travel and my chase to Gold, this promo is really timely as it would hopefully give me the extra few SCs required to get to Gold.

As a Platinum member, does this mean reward seats and upgrades will become harder to get? Will the lounges become busier?
How about VA start doing something for those that Accumute 1500-2000 SC a year.
For me 120sc doesn't mean much, points yes for upgrades.
Start looking after your loyal customers or we may look elsewhere.

Don't know if this is going to work.....I have a feeling the "household" is the account holder so everyone living at that address has to be linked, though a look through the terms and conditions I have not been able to locate this.

For Velocity Family pooling you must reside at the same address - therefore the "household" and family pooling would be from the one flybuy account.

Would love to be wrong about this however they will be exchanging information with each other and would be very easy to locate people using this loop hole and as Velocity has shown recently - investigate and close down accounts.

I suspect you will be able to pool but would obviously require hefty spends to take advantage.
Worth noting that you need to be over 16 to have FB account and can only have 2 over 18s in a Family Pool

Can anyone confirm that the SCs awarded will be based on coughulative spend over the month? Eg: transactions of $50 + $50 + $50 + 50 would earn 2 SCs? Or do the individual transactions have to be >$100 to earn an SC?

Thanks

Everything I've seen is coughulative but I dont think you can 'carry over' spend from one month to the next

That's correct. There's no requirement for individual transactions to be over $100. At the end of each month we'll simply add up the combined eligible spend across the qualifying brands. (Eligible spend means we exclude tobacco and gift card purchases, and charitable donations). You'll then be credited one Status Credit per $100 of combined spend, to a maximum of 10 per month. The calculation is reset each month, so there's no "carry over" from the previous month.

So read t&c.... No go with Coles express :(

I thought the 2 Fly Buys points per $1 on Coles Reloadable mastercard was pretty good, especially since you can load it with a Mastercard (I have CBA Diamond MC).
= 1.125 per $1 spent :)
Hey , I don't think you can reload it with a MasterCard credit card ? I read the terms and conditions and it says MasterCard debit card . Unless you are currently doing it , then this seems like an awesome idea !

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

The status is great but if people are not flying and amassing status won't it complicate airline data/stats flight predictability?

anyone know how this will work with family pooling? If there were two separate fly buys accounts each to a separate velocity account, and the two velocity accounts were family linked together using family pooling, would the status credits pool across?

See this earlier post regarding a Family Pooling question #40. I think Deejo77's take on the situation would be correct (that there can only be one Flybuys "household"), not sure whether the Flybuys or VFF reps have confirmed this yet though.

Hi flybuys,

Is there a way for flybuys to advise in their website how much has been spent in Coles/etc per month, and how many status credits are earned in that month? The reason I asked is that there is opportunity for flybuys to advise someone like me that I have spent (say) $480 this month, and I will probably go out of my way to spend extra $20 somewhere to get another status credit. Maybe even do it via email 7 days before end of month to remind your members potential additional SCs can be earned. Sure it is not much but it does add up and make a difference for someone.

I can see this being very attractive to people who travel on VA from time to time but not enough to get to Silver or Gold.

Cheers

TBH, a max of 120 SC per year is not going to make a big dent; moreover I suspect generally predictable

It's the "Family" pooling that I think has had much "Left Field" unpredictability.
