It is not against EBay rules to sell them. And one day they might actually be worth something as Qantas memorabilia (some people will pay for anything). But I have a problem when the descriptions imply they can be used for entry to a Qantas or BA lounge. Some descriptions include the fact they are only valid with a member, but we all know these are invalid with or without a member.
Here is an example of someone trying to pass off the very old undated blue guest passes as "current issue":

In my opinion, the worst of these scammers is the seller called 5startravel. In know this seller knows these passes are worthless since I have emailed them the link from the QF web site that details the new rules. The response was that they would check with Qantas and withdraw the auction if this was true. They either did not check with Qantas or can't read. They have continued selling these for months since I notified of the worthless nature of the product they are selling.
I think the reason they now make their auctions for these passes as private auctions is to ensure someone like me does not email the bidders to alert them to the reality of the value of cardboard before the action is over - which I have never done. So I am probably what this seller is referring to with their comment "Note: I now make bidding private on all auctions to protect underbidders from contact by fraudulent ebay members. ". Now, who is likely to be the fraudulent one?
Selling these for US$29 for 2 is not what I would consider "memorabilia".
