I think it may also be carrier/ route dependant and what they may hold back for their own elite travellers. In years gone past when I was P1 and MrsN was default WP we could pick any seat on QF and almost any seat with other OW carriers. On QF when booking CR for my parents both NB if I was not in the booking they were only allowed to pick certain seats further back in the cabin. Now I am back to LT SG on QF I can only select up to R4 on the a330 and 787, I have not flown on the QF a380 since dropping back to gold but would assume emerald city may not be available at the time of booking.not on a CR bookingAll seats including window bulkheads were FOC, even for bronze.
Yes, it's ticketedQF PNR usually works on AY provided there is an AY flight.
Are you sure its ticketed? Usually need to enter APIS for the ticket to be issued.
Thanks, this could be itPerhaps there is no equipment assigned for this flight for some reason, and hence no seatmap available?

Booked yesterdayHow many days have elapsed since the ticket was issued?
Did you receive e-ticket (.pdf) from Qantas that has an 081 ticket number)? If not, its not been ticketed yet.Booked yesterday
IME correct for QF to accept and book the flight, what is passed through the the actual carrier system by QF is anyones guess. For the same booking which I posted the seat map above, this is for the same booking from the actual carriers website.Minimum DoB is usually required for all international bookings to ticket.
Either way, can never hurt checking that.

This is the Finnair threadI think it may also be carrier/ route dependant
My comment is in relation to ticketing (by QF). Checking DoB (in the APIS section) is a simple DIY thing one can do to facilitate expedited ticketing by QF.IME correct for QF to accept and book the flight, what is passed through the the actual carrier system by QF is anyones guess. This happened for us too for QF reward seats on AY in August and September 2025. Almost immediately after making the booking. I just used the Finnair web site and QF PNR.I booked AY recently as a reward and I was able to enter my QF PNR within minutes of the booking.

Maybe I missed something the op mentioned booking flights on AY were booked using QF points. This is the Finnair threadaccept other airlines are more like QF holding back seats for elites.
If I have somehow caused offence, this was not my intent. I think that in someway shape or form my wife's account may be linked to mine be it through QF or our business account. Also I am an an authorised user on her account and know her QFF number off the top of my head, when I am booking for them (wife and daughter) I never think twice about entering her (wifes's) details in QF. When booking on partner carriers and filling out APIS I often have to grab their passport details as I know she will just not do it. After many years of travel my wife still thinks every thing just works like clockwork or magic. My comment is in relation to ticketing (by QF). It doesn’t surprise me at all that not much else comes across to the operating carrier. I’ve seen that literally hundreds of times and never assume they have my details.
