>>>> ADDED 30 Sept 2010 <<<<

Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Hello
I'm hoping someone with a subscription to Expert Flyer might be able to help me with loading/seat allocation. There seems to be a glitch in my "free" subscription" and I can't create a seat alert.
20/2/20 QF 1 to LHR. Flight originates in SYD and I'm joining in SIN. At time of booking I selected 71D because there's no seat in front. QF have changed me to 69G (3 of the 4 seats in this row are allocated) and of course 71D is no longer available. I realise the Seat Selection map doesn't represent actual seat availability. If Economy is not fully sold, could someone suggest what seat I might now select to better my chances of a spare seat or 2 next to me? Fluked it once on SYD-LAX scoring a row of 4 to myself! Thank you.

Loading and seat map. A spare seat or two is a lottery but It’s relatively lightly loaded so I’d go first choice 86D for a shot at an entire row

Many thanks for your prompt and helpful reply

Hi

Would very much appreciate anyone's help with my question (if possible) :)

I am looking to fly with my partner on QF9 on 1 August in J class. We would like to fly seated together in the middle row. Is there much availability? I cannot book for another few weeks (for a number of reasons concerning the return date being up in the air), and I am worried that all these seats in the middle may disappear.

Thanking you all kindly.

I was expecting to say you’ll be fine this far out but there seem to be an inodinant amount of couples flying on that date

Wow. Thank you so very much!

What do the crosses mean? (sorry, I am a newbie)

Is there any chance that Qantas is just blocking some of these seats or are they all taken?

I wonder if some of the middle seats are taken by individual bookings, and whether Qantas may kindly move their seats upon request :) I am a WP, but I don't think privileges extend that far. haha.

Hi All!

Been nearly 4yrs since I've made the trek home to Australia from Texas USA. Giving the DFW-SYD a shot (have mostly flown IAH-LAX-SYD or IAH-AKL-SYD in the past). Not looking forward to a 17hr flight in cattle class, but who does lol?

QF8 DFW-SYD Sunday Feb 16th 2020

Anyway .. couple of questions...

Does seat selection become free once online check-in opens?

I know the seat map doesn't really help much in the way of loadings (especially on flights where you have to pay to select seats) but this is the current map at this time. BCD is showing 7 across the board now (was 9 2 days ago) so is that an indication the flight is filling up? I think i've read this flight is not fully booked due to weight restrictions .. is that true?

Anyone want to take a stab at my likelihood of getting a row to myself? Lowly bronze level with no chance of an upgrade lol, so the best I could hope for is a row to myself, or even a shadow. Am I better off just biting the bullet and paying for seats at T-80 when the map should open up? Given the current map ( or even ignoring it in case something else comes up at T-80) what's the seats to be aiming for on this flight? I'm only 5'1 so legroom isnt a deciding factor for me.

Any other tips or tricks for this flight are appreciated! Thanks!!

the crosses mean that those seats are currently blocked for seat selection to certain status levels. The seat map was viewed from a Platnium account so unfortunately if you were to book today the only centre seats you would be able to select would be 12EF.

the other blocked seats in rows 2 and 10 will eventually open up to WPs if they are not selected by higher status pax prior. I’d be calling and asking when you are in a position to book

Hope it works out

“Extra seats” are available for purchase in Economy on QF8 (see article www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/qantas-comfort-row/amp/) . Don’t know if that might interest you.

Hi All,

Apologies if this isn't the correct forum for my query.

We've booked DUB-BLQ via AMS with KLM in Y. I'm QF Gold and was wondering if I c an seat select via QF rather than pay e10 per seat booking on the KLM site?

Thanks for your help.

Apologies if this is not the right place to post BUT ...

Flying QF1 this coming Sunday, 23 February and lost my row 32 economy seat upstairs as we are obviously now on a refurbished A380.

I've been allocated 50C downstairs, 50A is shown taken and 50B available so they don't seem to have blocked a seat between two WPs. 71D is shown as taken, any suggestions on "good" economy seats in the downstairs cabin?

QF2 return on 9 March is still showing row 32 economy seat upstairs and gee I'm hoping that doesn't change!

50B is showing as blocked on EF. All the extra leg room seats seem to be snaffled. 4 rows at the back of J unallocated, so maybe some points upgrades in next day or two might open up some prized seats.

Many thanks, might just stick with 50C and trust that 50B remains blocked between two Plats :)

No chance of an upgrade from my discount fare class unfortunately, the joys of working for a NFP!

Time for a bit of thread necromancy ..

Booked Award Business on SQ 6pm MEL to SIN in June.

["New" 77W layout (only one row of F)]

Other than row 11 being blocked, virtually the whole Business cabin is available for selection.

Are there any suggestion on the best seats for this early evening flight?

15A or K (or the two middles if travelling as a couple). No cubby hole or need to snooze on an angle given the extra wide footwells. (besides, if you snag these now it will be easy to transfer to another seat later if you decide you don't want them :))

If you are not planning on sleeping I would go for the mini cabin in R12 if you do plan on taking a nap I second @MEL_Traveller suggestion. R11 will be blocked to everyone unless they are PPS or Solitaire, closer to the check in date they may become available, I just cannot remember. If they do open up closer to check in and you can get R11 they will be the pick of the bunch also once on board if there are vacant R11 seats the crew will normally let you move to them.

So now the borders are opening I thought I'd get in quick and book for a long-awaited trip to see friends and family back in the UK around Easter 2022.

I'm planning to head to the Melbourne F1 GP in April then straight off to London (evening after the race) and managed to get a business reward.

I'm on SQ218 and SQ308, 777-300ER and A380.

Does anyone know which version of the seats will be on these flights? Think I heard they'd upgraded all the A380's but not sure of the 777's?

How is the lounge in MEL? From the Youtube videos I've seen it looks a bit small, I was hoping to get dinner and a shower there as we'll be going straight from Albert Park, I previously have flown from BNE SilverKris lounge.

Book-the-cook seems to be offline from Mel, no bigge as its a late night departure.

You can have a look at the seat maps in the 'manage booking' tab... for the 777: new version will have 3 rows of business class in the forward section, old version has 2 rows. For the A380: if F is on the upper deck it will be the new version, otherwise business class will start at the front of the front deck (old version).

MEL lounge is absolutely fine. I think I used the showers there previously and they were also ok.
