Hi all

i have a return flight to Sydney booked this weekend. I've gone online today to try and select seats and the button for select seats is sort of blanked out? When I hover the mouse over the button it says 'seats can be selected 7 days to 24 hours prior to departure.' But the flights are Sat/Sun, so it is 7 days?? Why won't it let me do the selection?

any advice ??

thank you:)

Has it been ticketed?

Don't you need some sort of "status" to preselect seats in advance. If so you may need to wait until you can OLCI

No - not for domestic.

The problem may be that the booking hasn't been ticketed yet or that the pre determined level of seat selection has occurred so its now blocked until OLCI

Do you think it's likely that all predetermined seating has been allocated, for both flights, 6 days before departure??

I couldn't really say. There are a couple of reasons as to why it could be occurring.

Very likely, ringing QF will confirm thats the case.

Will try calling QF. It's a 767 I think. So will it open again 24 hours beforehand?

Call Qantas and let us know how you go. I've just checked for this weekend and can't see any Dash 8 flights so that's not the problem.

Might it be a JetStar codeshare?

Unlikely to the JQ codeshare, I don't think it's possible to book as a stand alone booking like that.

Ok. So I rang QF. Asked for the seats I wanted 14A/B (exit row seats) both ways. He said, fine, I've done that. I said, how come I can't do that online. His response was a very helpful 'to be honest, I have no idea.' Haven't checked online yet to see if the seats are allocated.

I have been able to select seating online for bookings that have nit yet been ticketed.

Typically, that is the only online option available for such.

Yep - definitely possible... I have been caught selecting seats for QF international bookings while my [corporate] agent is still working on them... generally this is a few days out from ticketing. It has tricked them a few times as well when they've given me what they thought was a good seat, and I've straight away switched to a personal preference! :)
