PASSENGERS may soon be forced to pay for sick bags under the latest revenue raising plan considered by budget UK airline Ryanair.

Ryanair are very tight if they do this!

They should just find someone to advertise on them. Like they used to do with Photo Processing.

Did like the idea at the end of the article though, converting a space into a smoking area and charging passengers who want to smoke. Although it has many drawbacks, with the stench probably coming with them back to their seat, lots of smokers would no doubt happily pay.

- Seats with carpet on the floor in front of them
- Saying hello to a flight attendant.
- The air in the cabin (yes put a coin in the slot above your ahead and you will get a burst of fresh cool air for two minutes)
- Sitting in an aisle seat
- Sitting in a window seat
- Taking your shoes off inflight,
- Walking in the aisle during flight.
- Emergency equipment (a compulsory charge this one).
- etc etc

Funny that was my reaction on hearing that ryannair were planning to charge for the toilet. Wonder how they would feel about someone laying a cable next to the sick....

Couldnt agree more.Needed something to take the attention away from their loss.The press fell for it again.

Oh no they won't. They'll find a way of charging the person(s) who made the mess, and will charge them for the cleanup. At 3 x the cost.

That would really be a cool innovation too, working against gravity to put a coin slot in the ceiling. I wonder how that would work.

Ryanair just loves the free publicity.

Ryanair has been criticised for constantly looking for new ways to cut costs or raise revenue.

So Ryanair expects everyone who is going to be sick to have time to order and pay for a sick bag? I wish I was able to defer any sickness as easy as that. That way I could hold off sickness until the weekend so I did not inconvenience my company and if the hospital is busy I could come back another day.

What a joke of an airline and I cannot comprehend why the press prints these articles....

I think this would actually be illegal in many countries.

However Ryanair does not operate many domestic flights with Eire. For international rights, laws are governed by treaties and do not have extra-territorial law writing rights.

If smoking is not barred inflight under Irish law , then they are likely fine

One case in point. When the US tried to bar smoking on flights to the US, Aeroflot was taking the legality of this to court since it was the US trying to impose extr-territorial laws and in end US backed down and put an exception into the law to allow foreign countries to still do it if they wanted to

By its own choice Aeroflot later went non-smoking

In regards to issue in point, with modern airliners I would say that the instances of sickness caused by flying is probably pretty v low and the issue rather insignificant

Who knows but I am sure it will be just as dumb as every other idea Ryanair has implemented, or contemplated, during their existence.

Seriously now that you are moving over to the UK you should give them a chance if you have not already tried them....

I've had the chance to try them a few times, and have always found a better way of getting where I need to be (and often cheaper).

No RyanAir for me if I can avoid it. Friends and family do rave about them though...

Though I do like their press releases. Even if they only implement 1% of them, it's entertainment for me and free publicity for them. Win-win, I'd say!
