And yes - the Rockford lunch was a lovely day.

Although I fear it spoiled me for the next day at McLaren Vale trying many different wines, of wildly varying quality and "palate enjoy-ability" (is that even a word?).

What did those who went think of Samuel's Gorge?
I enjoyed 3 out of the 4 on tasting and was tempted by the Tempranillo - until they told us that all 4 on tasting we $40 a bottle.

I was expecting $24-28. The tasting experience they give you is great, with generous pours out under the veranda, that could be revisited + a nice view

The location and setting was perfect for a sunny late morning tasting. Could not fault the service.
The water exhibited a nice clarity with no acidity or tannins. Unfortunately the palate length was somewhat short. Not typical of Adelaide water which can have a somewhat sulphur nose. Young, crisp and definitely a drink now style that is good on its own or will go well with a range of food except cheese, perfect for those hot and spicy dishes.

I think the water shows best when you rinse your palate between sips with a decent wine

I had a funny experience there a month ago. Looked after by a rather ... laid back ... lady, couldn't tell us much about the wines. But, yes, nice environment. i got a tempranillo and a grenach to bring home.
