RewardPay Alternatives

I wonder if they will argue that suspended or explore modes are different from pause mode - I had to ask them directly though for clarification as I thought it was ambiguous if you got charged in pause mode
I did wonder that as well, since they use "pause" on the platform, yet "suspended" in their email and also T&C's which I have copied here;

"Terms of Service
4.2 Suspension or closure of Account by User
  1. (a) The User may elect to suspend their Account at any time by selecting the relevant option within the Easy Bill Pay Platform. An Account which has been suspended by the User under this clause may be re- activated at any time by selecting the relevant option within the Easy Bill Pay Platform."
The only "relevant option" on their platform is "pause" so is this the" suspension by user" that they refer to here?

I've lost faith for many reasons, mainly the surcharge ; I'm out once I get my small refund back.

And I'm not allowed back, so petty and FOMO of them.

I think you have a very strong case for the Pause state of the account being a Suspended account, especially as the T&C above suggests that is the case.

This is from their update of service email from 15 June 2020. I have lodged a refund request. If they don't refund in reasonable time I will lodge a chargeback. Then I will close my EBP account.

One interesting consideration is that if you read the T&Cs. no such clause exists even though they suggest it in their email:

5. Fees payable to EBP

5.1 Service Fees

In consideration for EBP’s provision of the Easy Bill Payment Platform and services, the User will pay the Service Fee to EBP on a monthly basis during the Term, in accordance with this clause 5.

What I think has happened is that they originally made the statement from the perspective of EBP-initiated suspension, but did not consider user-initiated suspension. The loophole here is that if you know when each month EBP charges the service fee, you can just pause your account for that period of time. Perhaps they could counter it with a statement along the lines of - service fees will not be levied against accounts which are suspended for the entirety of the service month, but that might upset those who want to pause indefinitely at the start of a month but not pay for the entire month's service fees because they are no longer using it.

Either way, it just seems poorly thought out by EBP and the consequence of this is becoming apparent.

It's certainly ambiguous at the very least. Im not unhappy to be done with ebp - a bit of an iffy platform and less confident about transactions than on other platforms

This is EBP reply. I've asked to close the account and obtain refund.

"Hi xx_x,

The monthly fee is payable even if the account is paused.

Should you no longer wish to use your Easy Bill Pay account then we will refund the fee and close your account.

Regards,
Easy Bill Pay"

It's unfortunately what I thought they'd say

Let us know! I got similarly slugged.

I finally got a reply from them today, similar to jjonnboy's.

They refused to acknowledge the breach of their terms and just said they will close my account and give me a refund. As I have no plans to use them in future due to this, and am made good I left it at that.

Shonky business - given they made the decision to charge a fee, control the platform, and excluded suspensions, the mistake is on them. When you "pause" the account in their menu, it confirms the account is "suspended" in their wording.

I must confess that I took advantage of one of the EBP shonky aspects when I had a triple flybuys offer running on Mrs andye's Coles MC

Just got a notification that BC is "experiencing issues with American Express", and we should stop making payments through them with American Express cards until further notice. Not looking good - reminds me of the message from Billcardboom from a little while back, which is still out of action :(

Just seeing if anyone has heard anything more about Bluechain and American Express acceptance? It's been a few weeks and there's been radio silence. Their website still talks about American Express payments (and the fees associated with Amex payments), not sure if they've fixed it and forgot to tell us all?

Had a disagreement over interpretation of EBP's "High Value" surcharge just now. Showed them emails they'd previously sent me. Said they will refund me the excess charges and close my account after I criticized their pricing levels as too high compared to the competition. Pretty heavy handed when I just wanted them to honor what they'd previously said.

Is there an alternative service I can BPay to?

Is anyone still using them? I can't imagine there'd be many left ... perhaps trying to close the business down by making it unattractive to deal with them ... rather than telling the truth and closing it down.

I've been making BPAY payments to our regular suppliers via Payment Logic/ YP since they launched it earlier this year. There's a few other competitors that do it as well.

Re EBP - maybe I got an email re monthly fees and maybe I saw it here like 100 times but ain’t sharpest pencil in the tin so ignored and incurred 2 x monthly fees - requested refund which was duly returned and then cancelled - if and when need to cultivate funds returns well we open a new account - simple

I thought I’d seen somewhere on AFF they’d stopped opening new accounts. If that’s not the case, I might cancel my account too.

They told me that they were stopping any new accounts being opened, but that was a month ago and I don't know if they've changed their approach now?
