QP questions

With the QP offer to waive the join fee, I'm considering signing up. I'm still sceptical about whether I'll get the value but see the guest rules (especially with children for domestic) mean I'll get better value when the family travels with me. A few question to the wise old heads on AFF:

1. With the joining fee waiver, I reckon it will end up cheaper ($1755 for 4yrs) than via the AFF corporate deal. Am I missing something here?
2. Does QP also allow you access to International Business lounges? Seems too from the website, but maybe I missed the fine print.
3. The QF website says DRW has both a QP and an International Business lounge. I've only ever seen the QP. It's not a big airport, are they one and the same?
4. Can you use a QP after joining, but before your card arrives? Can they look you up on the system to verify, or is it a no-card, no-entry type place. (I have a couple of trips in the next three weeks and debating whether the $30 for express dispatch is worthwhile.
5.Any other advice/ considerations?

you get access to all Qantas Clubs and Qantas international business lounges (except LAX at the moment, but alternative arrangements are provided) when flying Qantas or jetstar. In addition, you have access to American Airlines Admiral clubs when flying on AA.

Worth it? It all depends. You get additional benefits such as priority check-in, and (I believe) faster phone answering for the call centre. I would say you'd need to travel at least once a month to appreciate the benefits.

Worth it. Just join. The day you get stuck somewhere for six hours, you will forget how much you paid.

Via AFF you can only join for a 2 year membership though I will ring them this morning to ask about longer periods.
$240 joining fee
$750 for 2 years
$750 for second 2 years assuming there is no price rise. :shock:
$1740 total.

The membership card should arrive in 10–14 business days. With express postage the card arrives in 2-3 OR 3-5 business days depending upon who you ask.

In the interim, if travelling in Australia you will have full QC access as it should show on your boarding pass. If it does not show they can look up your membership for you and they can provide you with a temporary card. If travelling overseas you may not get access without the card but this varies between lounges.
