I think the pecking order at the moment is as long as you're not Qantas Club then you're fine!

... if rather cramped in the lounge.

From all reports, I am thinking that until the rest of it opens, I'd prefer the $50 voucher rather than gaining access.

I wonder if one can self-deny entry to get the $50 voucher instead?

F pax arriving 50 min prior to boarding, good idea! ;)
What can you actually buy with the voucher anyway? Can you use it at the retail shops (ie non F&B)?

It had your name, the date, and something saying it was only for dinner.

You also have to spend it all at once. We found a store that had a few grocery items (containers of hot chocolate, etc.) that we could spend it on.

Interesting post here about another lounge at TBIT
Korean Air Skyteam Lounge, LAX | Milepoint

This is the KAL Lounge (Korean Air / Skyteam).

Key points.
- Open 0830 - 0030
- Same level as Qantas/ oneworld lounge
- Already subcontracted for Emirates pax (until their lounge is open)...

One wonders why QF/oneworld couldn't have negotiated say access to the KAL Business lounge from 2100 to 0030 for six months.

EDIT- To correct zulu times

Understand it is open to 0030 rather than 1230 (pm) - I presume that is what you meant.

Also, it is a Priority Pass lounge.

If I happen to go through TBIT before the lounge extensions are finished, I would take the $50pp voucher, have a nice meal in the terminal and then head into the KAL lounge (I'm a PP member as well as QP)

Who knows, on bookings, I'm scheduled to go to SG from PS, so perhaps I'll miss out on the $50 voucher. Perhaps I might need to keep the PS card until it expires if the QF lounge remains a zoo.

EDIT: The PS card's no good, but the QP card is lifetime - carry that and hide the SG card and the service information on the BP when showing the lounge dragon. "I didn't know that this gold card got me into the lounge, I thought it was my Qantas Club membership "

Does anyone know if this issue is still ongoing the last couple of weeks ?

What,s the pecking order at LAX lounge, who do they give preference to .OWS,OWE,P1 ,QF gold,QF plat,Who gets in ?

Also, does the 30 day Admirals club access give you access to the QF LAX lounge ? It seems from this page that it does ?

But you'd probably be on the same pecking order as the QC members that are getting denied entry ?

There are (uncorroborated) reports that A/C members are still getting access to the *O TBIT lounge QP are [-]turned away[/-] provided with alternative options.

*O TBIT lounge is the QF lounge isn't it ?

Yes, though it is actually a OW lounge rather than a QF lounge. It's just operated by QF.

It's 7:45pm here and there's very few seats available. I am glad I am not paying first-class prices for this!

Re: QP Members Barred from LAX TBIT Lounge until upgrade Completed - Sometime "Next Y

It was not that bad when we flew out of TBIT on the 3rd August (Sunday night). It was pretty empty when we arrived around 6ish (flew in from SFO) did fill up as the evening progressed but never became unpleasantly full. I enjoyed sitting around the fire thing but it was a bit noisy - felt very pub like atmosphere. Might try and find somewhere quieter next time ( although hopefully the F lounge will be finished by next May when we are scheduled to fly out again).

Re: QP Members Barred from LAX TBIT Lounge until upgrade Completed - Sometime "Next Y

Just out of interest, being the lounge in question is a OW lounge (albeit operated by QF) isn't it entirely possible, that QF are not the ones setting the access rules.

As a OW lounge, I would imagine that OW would insist that OW Elites, and those in F & J be given first priority (plus their guests as guesting is a published OW benefit), and that QP members are given access not because it is a QF lounge, but rather as a courtesy as part of the arrangement that sees QF running the lounge on behalf of OW. If this is indeed the case, then it may also be entirely beyond QF's control that QP members are being excluded due to capacity concerns while the ongoing building works are in progress - even if QP members are important to QF (that's another debate), I can't see them being of any importance to OW in general.

Either way, QF are definitely at fault for the way they have handled the whole situation, first in that they actively promoted the lounge as a QP benefit before it was at at fully completed, and second for not having suitable alternate arrangements in place, (such as sending all QP members to the T4 AC & having a QF staff member over there to assist them should it be needed, or providing access to another lounge in TBIT) and communicating such to their QP members prior to their arrival at the lounge.

Even if the capacity issues were not anticipated (poor foresight if that is the case), surely by now it's obvious that the problem will persist at least until the first lounge & business expansion are complete (and possibly beyond)...so something certainly needs to be done.

It is a Qantas lounge. They own it. They designed it. BA, CX and JL use it under contract just as QF and AY use the BA T3 lounges at LHR, etc.

QF do not own the LAX lounge. It is a joint lounge that they operate. Similar to the *A lounge at LAX which is run by NZ.

Re: QP Members Barred from LAX TBIT Lounge until upgrade Completed - Sometime "Next Y

Note that anecdotes indicate A/C members are indeed getting access, maybe them over QP's as perhaps not somany?

As I posted earlier, the $50 voucher seems a better option than an overcrowded lounge in any case.

Until the lounge expansion is complete I'll continue to use the T4 facilities for as long as possible (as I have done this decade) - although I'm not booked 'til early in the new year.
