I'm in exactly the same boat as you serfty. I'm not a huge fan of legroom that's restricted by a bulkhead (don't really care if someone reclines into me) and don't like the idea of arm rests that are fixed on long flights, so am tossing up between 44 or 47 D/G.

  1. Row 44 (all 10 seats are available)

does anyone have any experience with these seats. I see tise from a couple of years ago:

I also have never flown on a 747 in Y - there will be 5 of us and I am interested in the recline in row 44 - seatguru mentions it may be restricted but I note some earlier posts touch on it being ok - anyone have experience with this?

Would people pick DEFG and then either C or H or maybe grab a 4 and 3 block - AC & DFG leaving seats in the middle of both blocks hoping no one wants them..

I have not yet travelled on one of these refurbs in anything other that Business, but it looks like this will be changing in January. ( ;) )

Looking at the forward seating available it's pretty must wide open.

  1. Exit row and bulkhead seats are available to me for $180 each. Forgeddaboutit. (43A/B/C, 43/H/J/K, 46 B/C & 46 H/J).
  2. Cowling seats - not on your Nellie (46A, 46K)
  3. Row 44 (all 10 seats are available)
  4. 46D/E/F/G look interesting and I can select at no cost.

It's options 4 that are interesting me. As per the following, does anyone have any experience with these seats. I see tise from a couple of years ago:

Is the legroom in 43A/C the same as in 43D/G?

Looks like I'll be the bunny for you all. I'm on QF17 on Monday week. As PS my seat selection is rubbish at present. Hoping for something in that "mini cabin" though. Anyone with EF care to check what the load and seat options are for QF17 on July 13?

And Serfty, snabbu, Steady and MH_fan... Can you remind me next Monday morning to do some detailed checking. It's possible I'll forget with the stress of having the FO & SO with me.

Well, row 46 is popular!

Thanks serfty. IIRC row 43 has a bulkhead with leg room cut out. As PS I can't allocate anything forward of row 50 until T-80... But good to know I'm still a chance in that forward cabin.

I also recall the armrests in row 43 being fixed due to tray tables and IFE screens. I guess I'll find out in a week or so.

Manage My Booking on QF website... I can pre-select some exit row seats for $180 (they're dreaming)... But row 43 is still greyed out.

As a WP I can select all of row 43 now (approx 100 days out)- but with the $180 a seat - itsnotgunnahappen

Can you please have a look at the recline on row 44 if you get a chance.

Yep. If I remember.
It will be interesting to see at T-80 wether 43 becomes available to a pleb like me and if so, for a fine.

Same here - $180 for each of the row 43 seats (A/B/C & H/J/K) that I can select.

.

It appears the M.O. now is that you need to spend money (to get to WP) so that you are privileged to spend more money on what used to be a free perk / reward for your loyalty.

Where's the motive for the punters to maintain loyalty then ?

When would we be charged for accessing F check in as that is a privilege that another punter languishing on the Y line would be happy to pay $30-40 for (traveling with family & crying kid, for example) ?

Interesting. In MMB row 43 is not showing as a $180 seat. Fingers crossed.

Not sure what flight you're looking at but it definitely shows up as wanting $180.00 cashola on QF15/QF16 or two thirds of the airfare which seems outlandish. :sly:

Will report back in October. Wasn't sure if we wanted 43ABC however when MMB said it would be $180.00 pp each way it made it very easy to grab 44AC instead.

Arrggh perish the thought.

AA have the option of paying extra for zone 1 boarding for those pax minus any status that would otherwise be relegated to zone 4 or 5 for boarding.

Not sure if that payment entitles you to anything else.

As expected Row 43 became available at T-80 including bassinet seats DEFG, but for $180. I've checked into 44 ABC. Will aim to report back on nearby rows.

I've had row 43 before and have noted that row 44 is quite close to the lavatory doors and does get light pollution from the lavatories / noise / people milling around behind you.
