Just returned from a great trip to Tokyo flying Qantas.

Was booked in premium economy both ways but lucky to get upgrade to business on SYD-NRT leg.

Flying home on Sunday night in premium economy and the seat and legroom were great and better then I had expected.

The food however was atrocious.

I pre ordered the online special of duck pancakes. These were horrible, cold and pretty much all salad and very little duck.

Breakfast consisted of a danish and warm muffin with some fruit. Very basic continental breakfast.

My friends who flew premium economy both ways also commented that the food on the NRT-SYD flight was fur in superior to that on the SYD-NRT leg.

I really liked the cabin, seats etc and don't think it takes much to serve something decent that matches the rest of the product.

I recently did SYD-HKG-SYD, 747 up and 380 back. The food for PE seemed the same meals as Business (or a subset lets say). Can't argue that the breakfast offering into SYD is pretty ordinary, but not sure anyone in J does much better. The only downside of the 747 PE is the lack of side bins, the one complaint of SWMBO on the outbound trip. Seats on both legs were very good, and certainly a step up from Y for our arthritic joints.

Please note I am posting specifically to the OPs topic.

RE: The heating...Did you tell the crew?.. it's easy to 'top up the heat'.. just have to wait a few more minutes..

RE: The quality....Did you tell the crew? As they have the ability to pass the info on to the dept that is responsible for this.. the same issue occurring regularly, can effect change.

Also, I don't know what type of 'social media' channels you have access to, but a detailed/non 'emotive' message to QF can help to 'pinpoint' particular issues, such as food quality, coming from a specific port... details include flight no./date/port/and what didn't please you...

Change can happen.. if there's a specific known continuous issue.. (I'm speaking from experience)

I'm just providing some channels that could be used.. Don't shoot the messenger :D

I'm flying this route in Nov/Dec this year. I've booked PE seats but am applying for an upgrade to J so I'm interested to read your comments.
Do you know if the 747 was the refurbished model?
Also, how often does the A380 fly that route?

The 380 to NRT does not occur. It's a 747 route currently.

Sorry I misread OATEK's comment (I read Hong Kong as Tokyo... :) ) I didn't think the A380 flew that route.

Sorry if I caused confusion, I read the post heading as about PE quality, so added my two bits based on QF 127/128. Have never flown to/from NRT.

No worries, I should learn to read properly. :)
I'm flying cattle class on QF 128 next month so I'll be keen to compare it with the 747.

Flew QF PE from LA to Brisbane 17 May, upgraded 747. Premium Economy far superior to Economy and 14 hour flight requires extra leg room. Crew were excellent, seats & entertainment good, food ok but can see cost savings taking effect. No real comparison to Business Class but a good cheaper alternative. Have flown BA PE which was not good , QF consistent and good.
