So I’m off to SIN today QF36. I only have carry on, so I checkin yesterday and head to the QF First lounge for breakfast about 8:30am.

Next available spa treatment??
After 1pm.
Wtf?

I’m here before anyone else on my flight who needs to check luggage. My flight leaves just after 12, I’m here nearly 4 hours before the flight but I can’t get in to the spa? Unlucky timing?

No, I’m not travelling First so I couldn’t book it in yesterday. Almost seems like an unattainable offering from Qantas.

Thoughts? Tips and tricks?

I think QF only puts on enough staff to cover F pax, so you pretty much have to be hoping for late cancellations. You probably stand a better chance of getting a spot in MEL though - I've been able to get in twice when not in F, never in SYD.

Unless you are in QF F, getting a spa treatment at Syd QF F lounge is like winning the lottery....

0% flying a cheapskate JQ domestic sector from MEL and SYD numerous times in 2018 but higher success rate when taking advantage of all day QF check-in at SYD for latish flights...

I have had better luck in MEL, 100% success the last 2 trips, one of them a dom sector to PER even.
With my last two visits to the First lounge at MEL this month, on entry I have been proactively offered a spa booking. The times were mid afternoon.

I politely declined each time as I don't do them. (For me, they are the opposite of relaxing.)

From Melbourne I've had good luck. I have secured 3/3 over the last 6 months. Very lucky to do it prior HKG flight, then when on QF35 and QF153. I arrived 8 30ish both times.

.... so to finish the story, there was a late cancellation so I got a foot massage at 11:30am. It’s a 20 minute treatment and boarding started at 11:40. No issues. 10 minutes after first boarding call on an A380 is no problem.
even with the change of company/spa treatment provider, all the staff are the same as before. They told me they all had to reapply for their jobs, the poor things.

I think you’re the only person I know that actually say no to an available slot. Why is it the opposite of relaxing? I can only assume you don’t like massages overall?

Unless travelling in first, I've only had success in Sydney 3 times in the last year. 2 of which was when I spent over 5 hours in the lounge and in both cases it was the only slot for the day. The other time I had a 6 hour delay where we had to return to the gate and it was mid Sunday afternoon.
