Here is a table outlining domestic flights that leave from SYD T1 and MEL T2 respectively, mainly for the purposes of F lounge opportunities.

Code:
[U][B]Flight Orig Dest Connect Dep Arr A/C Freq C/In Menus[/B][/U]
JQ3 MEL SYD -HNL 1310 1435 332 1...... 1010 B! A
JQ30 MEL SYD BKK- 1140 1305 332 ..3.5.. 0840 B A!
QF81 MEL ADL -SIN 1155 1245 333 .2.4... 0855 B A!
JQ19 SYD OOL -KIX 0850 0915 332 1.345.7 0550 B
JQ29 SYD MEL -BKK 1100 1230 332 .2..... 0800 B
JQ35 SYD MEL -DPS 1515 1645 332 .2...6. 1215 A
QF81 SYD ADL -SIN 1110 1245 333 .....6. 0810 B
Notes/key:

  • Connect: a - before the location means that this flight continues to this location from the Dest on the same flight number. A - after the location means that this flight originated from the given location and arrived at the Orig on the given flight number.
  • Freq: 1 = Monday
  • C/In is the time check-in opens, figuring on a standard policy of 3 hours before departure.
  • Menus: describes what menus are available to you if you choose this flight to access the F Lounge. B = breakfast menu (pre-11am); A = all day menu (post-11am). A ! indicates that the menu is available but for a limited time (e.g. due to arrival or departure time from the lounge).
  • Table uses data from current timetables (as of the time of this post), however:
    • All Japan bound flights via CNS have been ignored (services end Dec 2008).
    • SYD-BNE-MNL is ignored (service becomes SYD-MNL direct starting Jan 2009).
    • SYD-OOL-KIX frequency is based on that effective 18/12/2008.

anat0l, that chart is deserving of being put in it's own thread or added to a Flounge discussion thread - let me know if you are happy for me to find a better home for it.

Why does QF81 have different origin for the same flight number - I would have thought they would have been different flight numbers :?:

QF81 and QF82 are odd.

QF81 does SYD-SIN once a week (Sat), but QF82 does SIN-SYD twice (Sat and Tue)

QF81 does MEL-SIN twice a week (Tue and Thu), but QF82 only returns to MEL once (Thu)

Yes that is rather odd and my guess would be it involves repositioning flights and QF did not want to assign new flight numbers for the domestic leg of an international flight.

Just a note: domestic segments on Jetstar A320 flights to international destinations (i.e. via Darwin flights), depart/arrive from/to domestic terminals. All immigration processing, in either direction, is done in Darwin. At the airport - Travel information - Jetstar Airways

Thanks for that - good point. Should remove those from the list then!

LW, happy for you to move/copy the post, sans the two entries pointed out by comint.

anat0l,

At this time you should still have access to amend you post.

Thank you so much for posting this. I was up late last night trying to work it out off timetables and still missed one!

Question that I can't find a definite answer to though - As a OWE (AA ExP) will we have access to QF F lounge while flying Jetstar?

The rules on the QF website are clear if you are QF Plat then you need to be travelling on QF, BA or Jetstar (or OneWorld airline) but OWE conditions just state travelling on a OW flight. Are Jetstar flights included under this?

Seems curious that WP entrance specifically states Jetstar but it's left off for OWE. Any body had any first hand experience with this one?

Thanks

By the rules; no access. It certainly is not a grey area.

Perhaps, if you are on a QF flight number

However, It is possible they will permit you entry; you'll never know if you do not try.

Thanks Serfty - that's what I thought by reading it.

If I'm on a QF flight number is this considered to be flying OW? Likely to be an award flight through QF it that helps/hinders?!?!?

Has anybody here actually had first hand expereince with this?

Recent posts indicate travelling on FJ metal on a QF codeshare (QF391) from SYD may give a WP access to the F/L.

This may or may not apply.

The rules do state "... a oneworld Airline Members operated and marketed flight. ...".

While I don't have first hand experience, I've asked QF specifically about this.

As long as you're a WP and you're travelling on a QF flight number, even if the flight isn't operated by QF, you'll still have access.

What's the chances of getting this updated frequently as a sticky thread?

Mr!

PS Anatol, you should be promoted to hero status for starting this!

:p

Now this hasnt really interseted me in the past as using AA I knew no access if flying JQ.However with new plan I will gain AA plat with a DONE4 plus a few extras and Mrsdrron can get QF plat on the other DONE4.The partner hopefully will be on an award in this scenario.
So if mrsdrron becomes a WP can she get me into Flounge if we are flying JQ.

Yes, WPs are allowed in the F Lounge given (this is according to the rules):
  • You are flying on a marketed and operated JQ, QF or oneworld flight. (Somehow I think this is a bit lax, since the QF codeshare on FJ flights seems to still let people in the lounge. Quite odd.)
  • You can take one guest, but you both have to be travelling together on the same flight.

Marketed means travel on a QF, JQ or oneworld flight number, regardless of the metal of the operating aircraft. So a QF code share on an FJ flight is indeed "marketed" by QF.

But it's certainly not operated by QF. Hence why I said that the rules are a little inconsistent with practice, since there has been plenty of anecdotal evidence of pax getting in on the FJ metal flight with the QF flight code on their BP.

To be fair, there are only a handful (read: are there any more?) of flights which are QF marketed but operated by other (non-oneworld) metals. I haven't seen other anecdotal evidence to suggest how these are treated.

Doesn't it seem ironic that all the Flounge domestic legs are almost all on JQ and almost none now on QF :(
