Hi folks,

Travelling QF71 business Perth to Singapore. Can anyone confirm whether you still have access to Perth International Transit lounge or not?

im seeing conflicting reports that lounge access is now only for PER-LHR business flights, but when you search the lounge on QFs website, it says it's open prior to all international flights... or are PER -SIN business passengers now redirected go the old domestic business lounge?

Officially Yes you have access.

QF71/72, QF9/10, QF5/6, QF65 currently operate from/to T4, QF66 arrives into T1
The QF PER international transit Lounge is in the adjacent T3 and is open to international passengers on these flights

Domestic passengers travelling on QF6, 10 to SYD/MEL are redirected to the old J lounge.

Of course QF can change lounge access anytime....
PER-SIN pasengers will need to clear immigration before their flight so I can't see how that can be shunted to the domestic lounge.

It was discussed in another thread a few months ago that QF71 PAX were being redirected to the international lounge from the Dom J lounge.

Plus, it’s been renames the Perth International Lounge (although the link below does have “transit” in the URL….):

I was on 71 last week, yes you do get access to the international lounge. I believe when it first opened it was only for QF9, but that has since changed.

Yes and also the embedded youtube video

Yes, as QF71 is an international flight, I cant see how QF would shunt its pax to the Dom J lounge because they have to clear immigration first.
When the transit lounge first opened, it was not available to passengers travelling to Singapore. They had to go to the J lounge.
That has changed.

You just had to allow enough time to go through immigration after the lounge :(
And the one time we did it going through domestic and then international security in the space of 90 minutes or so was a hassle. Especially with the different rules as to what had to be 'taken out' or 'left on'.

Sure, thats the official term but I think most people use the more common term "immigration" or maybe "customs and immigration".

It's becoming more popular - because the term immigration is somewhat incorrect (the vast majority of people arriving in a country are not immigrating - they are returning residents or people arriving for a short stay). I believe the historic use of the term relates to the Department of Immigration who were responsible for the checks (hence why the term is used for both inwards and outwards checks).

At least you didn't use the term Emigration, which I've seen a few people use on here - it has never been the term for outwards passport control. Again, the term specifically refers to people moving to another country permanently.

Funny that. Has always been referred to as "going through immigration" by everyone I know since I started flying internationally into and around Asia in 1967 - think "passport control" is a more European/US term 🤔

Yes, historically, but now Passport Control is the official term used here, as used by the Australian Border Force.

I have heard these used in usual social circles:
Customs Yes
Immigration Yes
Quarantine Yes

I have never heard these ised in usual social circles:
Border force No
Border check No
Border protection No
Passport control No
Passport check No
Biosecurity No

IIRC the term SYD uses is Customs and Border Control

Our cousins across the dutch calls it NZ Immigration
SIN uses Immigration
LAX uses passport control

Ill stick with immigration as it is widely understood.

No it's Passport Control.

It is probably a generational thing, and I'm not saying the majority of people don't use the old term - quite common and some people go out of their way to stick with old lingo.

But it is passport control, and that's a much better description of what it actually is.
