QF announce non-stop Perth-London B787 Services

I received the London on sale email this week and had a look at some dates we are interest in. It is obvious that all the "bargain" J fares are only on combinations with QF9/10. Given a fare nadir of $7.5K, and a verrryy loonng flight PER-LHR, they are wasting their marketing energy on the Oateks.
To be fair, it has always been the less popular pair of QF1/2 and QF9/10.

It'll be interesting to see how it pans out financially.

We should be wary of drawing conclusions too early, but does this marketing for a flight whose capacity has been cut in half from late March 2018 indicate not just that Oz to London is 'soft' in demand, but that the route via PER is (at this stage) struggling to reach QF sales targets?

Many punters including myself prefer an overnight Asian stopover (if leisure travel) or via Asia with a two hour stop (if business or time sensitive leisure.)

The new menus are getting a lot if air time on the media. Kale, quinoa, seared tuna. Cold presses of various pro-biotic shots. A special herb tea.

All I can think of is United's sundae cart with lashings of whipped cream, hot chocolate and caramel sauce and a cherry on top :)

Wholesome foods designed to engineer the body's release of sleep inducing chemicals is one way to fall asleep. Much more fun to have a coma induced by salt, fat and sugar :D

One of the genuinely funniest comments I've read for a while. The best comedy has the ring of truth to it.

I want to read reviews of the 787 PER-LHR direct before changing from a tried and proven run with SQ.

I am on the last QF9 via DXB and the first QF10 via PER. Both flights have lots of big fat zeros on the higher classes. Guess I am staying in the seat I paid for. :(
We'll, the crew I was talking to on QF9 recently reckoned they'd be needing 20 empty seats on the way north so you may be lucky with a spare next to you...(at least next time you do it via PER (just re-read your post)).

Does anybody know if there is much award J availability on QF9/10 Going forward? I'm guessing they need to sell as many seats as possible to cover costs so probably why I only see economy availability. I'm only a silver tier FF though.

The first QF10 may have some travel writers and QF staff on freebies in J, so it's hardly representative of how the flight overall is 'loading.'

Jessica is that in Y? Look forward to your report on the trip with a direct comparison of the 787 and 380 product.

I think she said a while back that she was doing F to LHR and J for the trip back, if I recall correctly?

I was hoping that the first QF9 (to become QF10) would have all the press folk on it and that they stayed in LHR for a night or two.

It looks like I will be able to oblige.

Y both ways, with a J upgrade request in for QF10 (kindly lodged by my P1 BIL to give me the best chance).

Good luck Jessica awaiting with baited breath for your report. I see you cant even buy a ticket in J on that first flight wonder what EF says about it.

I am looking at QF9 on the 23rd then return on the 25th on QF2/36. So may see you on the last 9 via DXB or at least in the lounge.

Potentially flying Y both ways in such a short space of time... As much as I love flying I'd hate to do that. Hope you get your upgrade and either way that you enjoy the experience.
