Virgin Australia flights to Doha

[markis10]

Hate to break it to you all but Inshallah is what your parents tell you when they have no intention on doing what they promised....

Bit like Qantas in the Joyce era

Do all the VA 777 fights to Doha have Q suites? I thought so, but wanted to confirm before booking.

Friend of mine is trying to book Prague to Brisbane next 10 May, Virgin codeshare on QR. For the 3 options that day, economy seats come up as Virgin Rewards, but no revenue seats. Searching on QR, there are economy revenue seats aplenty.

Ignoring why they might want to book VA rather than QR, can anyone suggest why there may be reward seats and not revenue, booking via Virgin?

Easy....the VA codeshare can only be booked when travel originates in Australia...that is the same for all VA partners. Reward seats are never codeshare.

D'oh!! Thanks. Should have known.

It it’s still interesting that there are VA award seats but no revenue seats in those days. At least for sale ex DOH.

Also for ex Europe (for the cities I was searching) to Australia.

Bonus points:

Not selling as well as expected hence "discounting" and offering bonus points?

I think they are filling seats, just not getting the fares they were hoping for .... Yields have definitely taken a hit.

After booking in J last year for our flight to Europe via Doha (only J to DOH) I was sweating for months after the Iran thing blew up and flights were cancelled for three months. But in the end we flew (August) and it all went smoothly. Mrs Warks now doesn't want to fly any other way of course (her first J INT flight). I do have the points to do it again but until that part of the world settles down again (will it ever?) I won't rush to book another. Can't afford it anyway for a couple of years!

Good to hear.

I have VA MEL-DOH J award flight coming up in November which I booked for me and my nephew as a graduation gift. A few days then onto Europe. Hoping things remain calm as the trip was a long time in the planning.

Virgin has applied to IASC for an additional 7 weekly frequencies to Qatar.

This would allow the second daily Sydney service to continue operating beyond June 2027, when Brisbane and Perth return to daily services.

Just booked Velocity redemption PER-Europe and return in J, and went into the booking to select seats. The PER-DOH-Europe ticket (both QR fights) requires payment for choosing seats, whereas the Europe-DOH-PER ticket (one QR and one VA operated by QR) neither of the flights had a cost to select them. Is this normal?

[rurounimaikeru]

I could only select seats for free on Mel-Doh legs which was VA codes. QR codes legs to Europe have to pay.
I'm just going to try to select at check-in and hope were seated together

Lots of award availability here to Europe and back. Finally, this Qatar partnership is paying off
