Lindsay Wilson said:You are going on your honeymoon (know the feeling, yesterday was 2nd wedding anniversary, today's my 38th birthday) - what a better way to earn points + status (oh, and brownie points) + AC/QP access for you both until 28 Feb 07.
Bit early to be under-the-weather ... even for a birthday boy . We'll let you off this time - just don't let it happen again (until next birthday at least).Lindsay Wilson said:Yeah, sorry, very early morning this morning and I forgot to click through to the Elite Qualifying page from the AA earning page....
See my PM.

Sequel, yes yuo can do both, but it is fraught with danger. Doing a Gold Challenge first will only get you an additional 700 FF points on the sector MBJ/MIA. I ran through this with another more knowledgeable person on the AA Plat Challenge. The risk of doing both on the one set of flights is the risk that the Plat Challenge won't automatically kick in after the Gold Challenge and then you have no recourse.Sequel said:After signing both of us up for the Plat Chlg, I asked if I could also sign up for the gold at the same time (for the extra 25% miles on the return trip before we get Plat), but was told you can only do one or the other. Any theories?
Also, I am thinking of leaving my QF SG number (rather than AA nobody) on the booking until I check-in, in order to maximise the chance of an op-up (I know, not much chance on a discount, code share ticket with a half empty plane, but it is my honeymoon, and I am allowed to dream!), any thoughts on that, or am I risking the Plat Chlg when they stuff up and dont change the number before I fly?
Step 1. Get your seats preallocated with your QF SG number attached.Sequel said:Also, I am thinking of leaving my QF SG number (rather than AA nobody) on the booking until I check-in, in order to maximise the chance of an op-up (I know, not much chance on a discount, code share ticket with a half empty plane, but it is my honeymoon, and I am allowed to dream!), any thoughts on that, or am I risking the Plat Chlg when they stuff up and dont change the number before I fly?
What I meant was, save your Plat Challenge for another time; AFAIK, You may only do a Plat Challenge once. Certainly, get your AA points, but, for example, If the opportunity arises to do it in August next year and you do not look like retaining SG you would have it until Feb 08!Sequel said:As Linsay (thankfully) pointed out, as it is AA Q class ticket, my FF SG would earn no status or miles, so at least with AAdvtg I get some miles, and if I dont retain SG in August next year, then the AA Plat will atleast last until Feb 07.
