That's very interesting, thanks.

First, the pilot looks very young!!

Then, good to see how their galley works - we know that the QR meals (in J at least) and always well presented and plated. They have a 'galley manager' and an 'assist', and then the FAs come and collected and deliver.

I wonder which other airlines organise it like that?

We certainly know which one doesn't ;)

I guess with the QF Galley Lead/assist, I am sure that generally they try their best.

However, given the comparative ingredients they start with there is only so much lipstick you can put on a pig.
To be fare, I’ve had brilliant dishes and cough awful on both airlines. The QR cod (fish) dish is particularly bad.

While very well true; crew/circumstances can make or break the cooking/presentation of meals, there is the basic availability to be considered.

What i was referring to was a general comparison between the long-haul business class offerings of each airline.

I’d actually put it down to attention to detail.

Both have decent inputs, but one has a lot of flare on presentation but hit and misses in quality, the other misses on inconsistent preparation of meals.

Not in direct comparison.

I’ve actually had a lot of longhaul flights in the last 2yrs on QF, QR, CX, SQ and TBH QR hasn’t been exceptional - yes, the service has often (but not always) good. The food is usually good, but sometimes not, verging on bad - “the cod” is just downright awful, a defrosted sloppy, flavourless mess. I had it once and put it down to a bad day, but had it again shortly after and just as awful.

My (and others) complaint with QF is turning rare beef into hockey pucks by over defrosting meals. Plus the inconsistent wine list (or lack thereof).

Again, you seem to miss my point:

On QR business you generally have more choice and better options with that additional choice than with QF.

That hasn’t been my experience post COVID on ~14 QR flights / ~10 QF LH (plus a mix of SQ LH, CX LH/SH).

QR are good, but certainly not always perfect.

Agreed. Ovens and temps make a massive difference

Is the oven faulty and struggles to get temp and they put the dish in early, or does a call bell distract them and the beef fillet stays in 2min longer than target.

I'm yet to find an airline I've flown multiple times on that has got very meal right

As mentioned above, there is a dedicated member of crew working in the galley, plus assistant. Other crew work in the cabin to deliver meals.

The galley crew aren’t distracted by a call bell.
