Qantas x PressReader

Hi Red Roo,

I was looking forward to trying out PressReader on a recent segment returning from Singapore to Sydney, but forgot about it until I was boarding, and so then too late. It had me thinking there might be value in adding an (optional) alert/notification from the Qantas app which prompts you ahead of your flight, when publications are available for download?

Cheers,
Matt.

Does anyone know what the deal is with 2 pax on one pnr. Can I use my 12 hour window now and then my partner gets her 12 hour window activated when she starts? Or is it a per device thing?

We had 2 on one PNR and I used my phone and my wife used her iPad and we had different 12 hour windows

Not a bad idea, but on two recent flights (out of maybe 10 in a two-week period) I received emails and texts telling me about the reader. I rarely get emails or texts when a flight is moved or delayed, or when a gate changes, or when points upgrades come through. I'd rather QF get these basics right with an app or general communications than things like pressreader.

Yep, no iPad-specific app. Have to download the iPhone app and then run at 2x. Pretty poor imo.

This is the most disappointing thing I think. I don't know many that would read a magazine on an iPhone. The Qantas app needs to be made iPad as well. Shouldn't need to load an iPhone app onto an iPad for content that is to be viewed on an iPad

Worked perfectly on my Android tab.. Few newspapers, and a couple of mags

It's either half broken or Qantas have limited it. Just downloaded one newspaper, try to download a second to have iTunes demand payment, despite the brought to you by Qantas notice.

back to paper copies I suppose.

Just tried this out over my weekend trip. Most of the titles I wanted were free, however there were some that prompted for payment. I simply skipped those; there were still plenty of free titles available.

I am yet to come across anything that wasn't free, I usually download travel magazines and the like. Have done a newspaper or two but I hear enough of the news on the ground :)

When I last tried it I had no issues. But I got bored using it on my iPhone pretty quickly.

that'd be why I run it on an ipad

Itunes was demanding payment for the Weekend Australia. a newspaper that I've downloaded for free many times. My question is whether there is now a limit. As in I downloaded one newspapers, then was asked for payment for The Weekend Australian. So either Qantas has imposed a one newspaper limit, or something was broken at my end.

The second possbility is hard to understand, since I was connected to Qantas wifi, went into the phone app which then switched over to Press Reader.

So much for 'thousands of newspapers and magazines'.

None of the LGBT magazines I wanted were free. Tried a few random others from various categories and all demanded payment.

Disappointing. :(

did you go in via the QFF app?

I got asked to pay, logged out went back to the QF app and clicked browse mags and it was free again

Went in via the QF app.

Feeling sheepish as I signed out of my PressReader account and then relaunched. Working now

I've had what you experienced once. Very annoying. At least you got it fixed. I couldn't manage that on the day.

I always log in via app, but it regularly wants to charge me for any mags. Fortunately waiting a day or 2 for it to be 'fixed' isn't a problem given I fly regularly and already have dozens of unread mags and books via multiple sources.
