Qantas x PressReader

I've just updated (with version 2.3.0.13) but don't have this appearing as an option per pjm99au's screenshot ... unless - as others have conjectured - this is not available before day of travel (which would make sense from a Newspaper perspective, right?). My next trip is not until Tuesday.
I suspect this may be the case, which is why the link isn't showing up with my flights either at present. Would be nice to get some clarification.

Correct when I look at my flights for next week it doesn't come upImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1432857032.863192.jpg

From memory when you select browse now it gives you a 12 hour window to download

That's great to know. I have press reader on my iPad. Hopefully, this will also work for me.

I'd say the iOS Pressreader app is more ... reliable than the Android one?

I have a Pressreader account on both the iPhone and Android tablet and that appears to sync the available titles no matter how you obtain them.

Great idea, please get the WA papers on there .... Had a look through the magazine selection, no aviation mags

Hi RedRoo,

Which version of the Android App has this enabled?

Was showing up the day before travel for me (but within 24 hours of the flight). I had checked in online too (unsure if that made the difference or not though).

Thanks Daver6.

If we hear nothing back from RedRoo, I'll check the app at T-24.

The app will offer complimentary download 24 hours before your flight departure.

You'll have 12 hours to download, starting from the moment you select "browse now". You can then download at any time during that 12 hour period.

Please see the "How does it work" section on this link: Qantas and PressReader | Qantas

Hope this helps. Happy reading. :)

Perhaps it would help if the following wording was changed on that page:

you can download the latest issues direct to your mobile or tablet up to 24 hours before your flight through the Qantas app

Was reworded:

you can download the latest issues direct to your mobile or tablet from 24 hours before your flight through the Qantas app.

I really think QF need to do a better job of making it clear how to use it with the App. For example when I upgraded and opened the app it said yep new feature - but in no way did it explain or have a link to say:

a) only use day of travel/QF lounges
b) you need to go to your trip page to get access to it.

Poor communication imho. It's great to add the feature, but make it clear how it's used because honestly I looked around the app and saw nothing obvious - if it wasn't for this thread I'd still be wondering.

I'll be sure to pass on your feedback to the team.

Perhaps the first line of the "How does this work?" section is a little clearer:

"A day before you fly you will be prompted to begin your complimentary download period through the Qantas app. You can choose to start your complimentary download period whenever you like before your flight, ideally when you have time to browse the thousands of title on offer."

Perhaps it is ... if the previous lines hadn't implied this was available up to, not after, the 24hr period.

Here's an idea: get someone completely new to the concept to read through the page and explain back to the IT Dept how it works ...

I'm proud that you're an early adapter. Thank you for giving it a go. :)

Like me, you can avoid squinting by downloading the iPhone app to your iPad or iPad mini. ;)

The Qantas App was updated today to accommodate for this exciting innovation. Please ensure you have the latest app version, and perhaps try logging out and logging back in.

Hope this helps in getting your trips back. Let me know how you go...
I tried to find it in the Apps via iTunes, but it doesn't appear and no iPad friendly QF App??? Will go and recheck in case I looked before the upgrade

Yep, no iPad-specific app. Have to download the iPhone app and then run at 2x. Pretty poor imo.

I have a QF app on my ipad and the press reader is good, doesn't contain content that interests me.

Still had access to physical papers on the plane

Red Roo, can you confirm if this applies only to QF operated flights? The link never appeared for each of my recent EK operated (but QF marketed) flights.

That's correct. This service is only available to customers holding confirmed bookings on Qantas or QantasLink operated flights.

The 5 points under "Terms and Conditions" at the bottom of this link may clarify some of your queries. :)

I used this the other day thanks to the heads up here. Worked OK on my droid tablet and phone.

Also noticed large gate signage at SYD advertising this feature... right near the newspaper bins which I thought was decent placement.

The signs though don't really make it clear how one is supposed to use it - just a general "download before you fly" type banner, but I guess it gets the message out there.

as an aside more and more hotels are doing this too. I stayed at the hotel Indigo in London last year, and they had the same deal. good idea!
