Sent a tweet to Qantas & PressReader. Reply received from PressReader.
"Hi this issue it being reviewed by our team. Apologies for the inconvenience
and thanks for your patience"

Reply from Qantas received this arvo. "Hi Kevin, thanks for letting us know. We are currently working on a fix.
Thanks, Kristen?

Hi,

The problem was identified by Qantas and PressReader technical teams yesterday.

I know that you like technical information so here it is:

"Some specific information files are now required with iOS 9version when applications interact with each other.
Qantas released an update of their application last week (version 2.4.3).
When Qantas Application is calling PressReader application, iOS can't find the proper information to openPressReader Application and it redirects you to Apple Store."

Issue is now resolved and tested but another release is required for Qantas Application.

I don’t have an ETA but a Qantas HotFix is in the pipe (waitingapproval from Apple Store).

We apologized for the inconvenience.

Regards,

Yannick

thanks for the update. Glad they are fixing it

Are the magazines gossip rags, fun with wool and equine monthly-types or actual titles like Monocle or the New Yorker (which cost a bundle each year for subscriptions!)?

Yes, very disappointed to find The Oz no longer available (News Corp's decision, apparently).

Agree , finally got to have a play today. The Australian along with all newscorp newspapers are no longer available
to download.

Just download press reader. It's free to browse. 2000 magazines, including Elle, vogue, women's weekly, Computer mags. Cant see new yorker or monocle.

Joking! I guess no AFR either.
Still I see the Chinchilla News is still available.

Pressreader is going down the gurgler.
First the News Limited papers are no longer available, now The Age & SMH are gone.
Some downloads are free during your 12 hour download period, others the Itunes charge pops up.

A bargain $12.99 for the current edition of Newsweek when I can download last weeks issue for nicks.

yep, I signed into VA lounge wifi last week and then released News limited was gone.
Still I used to randomly get that iTunes pop up previously when the link with the QF app wasn't working.

Only a few local magazines seem to work. everything i'd like to read (say a US newspaper or newsweek magazine) asks for payment :(

I thought it was only me, the last couple of flights always come up with wanting my Apple ID and then payment for what I have selected. So much for free selection on press reader!!

Downloading in Virgin Lounges is no problem, you don't get the random popup charges.
Looks like Qantas/Pressreader need to fix the app again.

I used / tested it extensively in the SYD F Lounge and several Dom J lounges this past week. Come to the conclusion that most Aussie mags will download fine and free. Overseas mags back issues were OK, but the current issue would almost always ask for a charge.

It's free so can't complain too much but I'd be fixing it or switching products if I was QF. Problems have gone on far too long.

Tried again to use press reader, but again came up with wanting my Apple ID and to charge me, I think I will give up because it only has worked a couple of times for me so far

Just logged onto press reader and it wants to charge me for current issues...What a complete waste of time....think I will just read a book !!!

Yes, I've also had identical problems during the previous week trying to use the Qantas link to PressReader. As I've said before in this forum, I've given up on the Qantas link to PressReader, and use my local Library to get a full 7 days of free access to PressReader. Which library? In PressReader, go to the Menus (the 3-bars in the top left-hand corner), and select the HotSpot Map. There are free Hotspots around the world, including many local libraries and some of the larger hotels. They give a much better deal than Qantas, and they work consistently.

I live in the area covered by the City of Sydney council, and all I do is go to my local branch library, connect to their free wifi (and if after hours I can connect whilst outside the building), and then launch PressReader. I'm then given 7 days of free access to PressReader to use at my home or anywhere that I've got an internet connection. I don't need to be a resident of the City of Sydney or be a member of their Library, and merely need to visit one of their libraries.

Hi Medhead, used it again today, it all worked but Oz papers are not available with an apology that can no longer get the info
from the publisher.

Thanks.

Seems the australian newspapers have refused to participate with press reader. This has just hardened my resolve to not support them any longer, even in the hard copy print version. I'm slowly getting through my accumulated e-versions in press reader - finally into this financial year. ;)
