Qantas x PressReader

Press reader access with VA was one of the great points of difference. Glad you've done this just as I'm about to switch all flights back to qantas.

It has to have big cost savings. Not least in fuel by not carrying dozens of newspapers on every flight.

Apart from saving money not paying for extra fuel to carry newspapers and magazines as noted by my esteemed colleague also not to mention the saving time wise in aircraft turnaround, and to try to prevent the appearance of mess after each flight, esp on a 380 when the plane cleaners have to get rid of all manner of items (used newspapers that lie everywhere, not to mention anything else strewn on the aircraft floor/seat/seatback pockets.

Gee, Red Roo, QF might drag me into the 21st century by reading my AFR online...now where is that paper bag...breathe in and out :D

Okay Red Roo, I'm  [as I'm challenged when it comes to new IT stuff] ;). I worked out that it is't available for iPads yet, but I have got the Qantas App on my iPhone. When I try to add my Trips (as i have a number in there - all vouchers), it says I have no flight bookings.

So I go to "add trip" using the booking reference and surname - but it says "this booking has already been added to the app" (can't post here as it has the reloc and surname showing)

Looks like I broke the system early...

I'm proud that you're an early adapter. Thank you for giving it a go. :)

Like me, you can avoid squinting by downloading the iPhone app to your iPad or iPad mini. ;)

The Qantas App was updated today to accommodate for this exciting innovation. Please ensure you have the latest app version, and perhaps try logging out and logging back in.

Hope this helps in getting your trips back. Let me know how you go...

Have updated the app already to the current version. How do we access Press Reader? Is there meant to be a permanent link to it in the app or does it show up only within 24 hours of flight departure?

Was wondering the exact same thing! I'm flying lunch time Friday so if I remember, I'll try see if something shows up.

This is a good introduction offer by Qantas & Press Reader, but there's no way that after this offer I'd be paying their subscription rate of $50 a month. I'd ever only use it as a means of collecting some magazines immediately prior to travel.

Qantas offered a similar trial to Zinio about 2 years ago, accessible only in QF lounges, but it didn't continue. A number of local councils' libraries already offer a selected range of magazines (probably 100+) through Zinio, at no cost, ever.

In the My Trip section along with your boarding pass and lounge information, there is another section about this feature. You then need to install the PressReader app, which I don't plan no doing. Reading on my phone is not my idea of fun. I'm happy to stick with the newspaper and read my Kobo.

I've given this a go in BKK today. It works well, although the Android tablet Qantas app (which was upgraded) didn't seem to be able to open Pressreader.

I did the opening and selection on my iPhone and then opened Pressreader and all the magazines I'd selected on the phone were on the tablet.

That's great to know. I have press reader on my iPad. Hopefully, this will also work for me.

Flew East to West coast yesterday afternoon (Wed) didn't notice anything new on the App (Android) Have a short hop Kal to Perth next week so will definitely be looking out for it then.

Doesn't show up on my side.

Hi RedRoo,

Which version of the Android App has this enabled?

I've just updated (with version 2.3.0.13) but don't have this appearing as an option per pjm99au's screenshot ... unless - as others have conjectured - this is not available before day of travel (which would make sense from a Newspaper perspective, right?). My next trip is not until Tuesday.

Regards,

BD
