So you think Dixon, a former CEO, who is rattling the cage here is doing the right thing? I fail to see how this is "destroying" Qantas. If anything Dixon and his cronies (who were part of the failed equity takeover) did more damage back then and will do more if not shut out soon.

There was never any reference to the CEO's having to come from iconic companies, just CEO's in the history of CEO's.
All three of those cases were quite widely publicised were they not? Wasn't the health insurance fund one of the largest?

While it hasn't been smooth sailing for Joyce, he took over at a bad time, and one could easily argue that Dixon could have shaped the future of Qantas much better, but didn't.

I agree, on the face of it ties with CX and OneWorld partners would make more sense, but seeing as they haven't helped thus far, why would you keep going with a strategy that doesn't work? The EK deal does have some interesting parts about it, but I see it being a better option than OneWorld partners at this stage. That said, would be devastated if they left OneWorld and assume they wont.

As for the tourism dollars, seeing as they're going to the states and not the feds now, what's the issue? Lets see if Dixon wants to work with Virgin Australia instead... because I do agree him being part of a consortium wanting to takeover Qantas is a bit of a conflict, and trust it'd be a conflict for him to even ink a deal with VA.

Well, one thing to consider is that irrespective of his position on Qantas, wouldn't an argument like this suggest that he's in conflict already (or rather, for a number of years by now) for having a business relationship with Qantas knowing that both CEOs were on conflict of interest terms?

Why is it only now that there is a more antagonistic view on Qantas that suddenly conflict of interest is, well, of interest? Granted, there is something a bit more tangible attached to it now, i.e. possibility of taking a larger shareholding...

The QF directors should undo some of the contracts that Dixon has with the company (if he still has a any deal operating).
That is what I would do.

I think it boils down now to the fact Dixon is deliberately trying to oust Joyce and destabilize management. He had his time as CEO and if he didn't get it right then, what's to say he is right now?

True also, which even more shows why Joyce should not be there doing this to our once proud and strong airline.

Not particularly but is the fact that Joyce wants to publicly argue with him a good thing either? Maybe Dixon can see the writing on the wall for what Joyce is doing to Qantas or maybe it is purely for financial reasons, either way anyone can highlight what an arrogant one eyed antagonist Joyce is gets my vote.

A CEO should be leading an organisation not placing it in continual conflict and turmoil. Joyce likes to fight and I suspect will stop at nothing to get his own way, to show he did it "his way", and I am sure he would do this at any cost, regardless of what it did to Qantas or shareholders.

I am not in love with what Joyce is doing to Qantas however it was Dixon why planted the seeds of the weeds we now have.

To suggest Joyce is the cause is to be totally naive.

In one fowl swoop AJ has thwarted Dixon (the EK deal).

Share price is on the up.........and the public overwhelmingly support the EK tie up.
Dixon is furious at this turn of events............AJ has outsmarted him (who'd have thought?)

AJ has the rare chance of redemption.........Dixon is cancer.

If AJ could just throw one or two more punches (like SYD-KUL and PER-DXB and MEL-NRT and BNE-BKK).......then the public will fall in love all over again.

so he should sit there quietly and let Dixon do as he pleases? Sorry, you want someone in charge who will stand up to it.

Well i haven't seen any conflict within the company since the grounding last year (of which i was caught in London when it happened). Do you think he should have pandered to the Unions and given them what they want? The unions made ridiculous demands so he was right to stand up to them. care to name anymore "conflict and turmoil"
