I would suggest the comment from BadgerBoi was made with no reference to the sexual orientation of AJ.

The impression I received it was more in line with making fun of the MD of Qantas, nothing more and nothing less.

In that respect such inference is Off Topic, so please refrain from further comment in that vein.

Lets not be so sensitive, it was just a joke. Poor taste or not, it's a joke and that's all.

Back on topic, I fail to see the correlation between the election and anything QF might want to announce. Maybe a clever marketing ploy to build anticipation to announce the removal of MASA's? Haha

Clearly in the interests of clear, open and accountable Government, Qantas will be revoking Chairman's Club Membership for all politicians.
Well, there's Slipper, Thomson, Rudd and Gillard will be handing in their cards. Rudd will win his seat, but he's not going to be able to face years and years of opposition. Gillard's not standing again and the other two will be booted out by the voters.

Via Ben Sandilands on Plane Talking, who mentions Qantas having a surprise in their wings to be announced post-election.

Anybody have a clue what they might be planning to announce?
Usually this mob is pretty savvy, but we seem to have drifted off the runway into weird speculation very quickly.

"After the election" could be something that won't happen until November or later.

Or it could be something politically sensitive. Like, um I dunno, mergin' with Virgin. Doing all their maintenance in Dubai. Getting out of the domestic market. Or dropping the international routes. Something big.

Could be the announcement of a new status level. Given that most* people are now P1 thanks to double SC's and ASA's perhaps QF will finally launch iridium as the new level. "An unparalleled level of service" will undoubtedly be advertised........but not necessarily offered.

:p

*For the more literal this is for effect, the poster understands that most people do not have platinum one status with Qantas. The insinuation is that Qantas may have more platinum one's than they bargained for because of MASA's and DSC's.

An announcement of great significance after the election?

The future of Qantas? Why wait that long?

is there actually a link to this comment? I cannot seem to find it..

time to quietly back out of this thread and say thanks for the fish. Looking forward to the election and QF announcement

I would have thought with Albanese stating support for a second SYD airport, Qantas could be in cahoots, and announce some help with funding/moving to this new airport that's not even a plan on paper yet.

The free flights for Labor voters are all One Way or on a flight with a distinct shortage of fuel, correct? :D
