Qantas results and fleet upgrade

Is it the first four or most of the ones with JQ bar from the recent few that they have

VH-EBA through to VH-EBD purchased and operated by Qantas domestic until they realised they couldn't be refueled fast enough and nominally "lost" a sector per day compared to the 763. So they got flicked to Jetstar for longhaul ....

Do they realise by the time they actually get around to delivering anything they have announced, all of their premium pax will be flying with other carriers?

Seems too little, too late IMO.

The first four A332's only have a lightweight floor so they can't take skybeds, etc. I'm not sure if there is a refit to enable a heavier floor to take heavier seats. (If there is I'm sure it would be expensive).

My limited understanding of what I read is that the floors form an integeral part of the outer shell and strengthening of the existing floors isn't possible economically.

This may be the reason why AJ says they will be a new seat type - lighter weight

my money would be on this - "we're being shaken down by the vietnam government for more money"

The Jetstar Pacific restructure has already happened.
All that happened that the share held by the Vietnam Government investment fund (SCIC)(70%) was transferred to Vietnam Airlines (also government owned). Qantas still has 30%.
Helping Jetstar Pacific is the shutdown on 1 March of Air Mekong - Vietnam latest news - Thanh Nien Daily | Another private airline to be grounded in Vietnam

That is what I understand as well? But why let some pesky stuff like engineering or cost get in the way of a good press release huh? :D

Newsflash - "Government shuts down competing privately owned airline whilst signing ownership deal with Government Airline"

So when the A330s revert to QF domestic - have they worked out a way to refuel them faster, or will this still be a problem?

Never was an issue with refuelling, it was passenger loading and unloading before they created the dual aerobridges, problem well and truely solved.

Interesting - I always thought is was refuelling in that it was taking over ¾ hour to do so for a basic MEL/SYD hop -which played havoc with turnaround times for Golden Triangle routes.

With the duel air bridges, my perception is they are used less than they could be, even when a 330 is at a dual gate.

Does not take that long to load 8T of fuel, 330 Pax and filling it with cargo did, which was where Qantas had the increased turns.

I recall there were fuel issues originally. Did qf solve them?

Whith the change to the A330's does this mean we will also see a PE on the international routes? or at least a econ plus with extra leg room.:?:
Whilst its nice to have flat J seats the current Y config on A330's is not fantastic

Good point, personally on such relativly short routes I would prefer to see a PE added rather than full lie flat beds in business. The routes they operate in are afterall shortish regional routes, not long haul, plus with the new Asia timings they are leaving Aus during the day, but yes are overnight back in most cases.

The newer 330's aren't that bad - I agree that the older 330's probably need a refresh

An innocent question as i haven't been on either but how do they differ?

The older 330's are like the older 747 product where the newer domestic ones are fresher and have a similar IFE to the 380's
