Qantas chair Margaret Jackson to retire
Qantas chairman Margaret Jackson will retire at the company's annual general meeting, the airline announced.

Ms Jackson and other Qantas directors have been under pressure to quit since an $11.1 billion takeover bid for the airline by Airline Partners Australia failed earlier this month.

The Qantas board had supported the takeover bid.

No financial reason to hang around now that APA are out of the picture.

I hope James Strong does not get the Chairmanship.
There were articles in The Australian, which I cannot find, that indicates that he is against the large acquistion plans for Qantas as the capex would stress the financials. This means QF may not expand, especially if they do not take the 787 options let alone the purchase rights, and that some of the old battlers will stay in the fleet for a longer time.
I do not know what the relationship is between Dixon and Strong but Geoff has been a proponent for expansion, admittedly via JQ.

Geoff, as I understand it, was an ardent supporter of updating the fleet as well as expansion. From what I have read, the board were putting the brakes on getting new aircraft.

Packer resigns from Qantas board

No surprise. Who's next?

From SMH: Packer resigns from Qantas board - Business - Business - smh.com.au
Qantas director and Publishing and Broadcasting Ltd (PBL) executive chairman James Packer will resign from the board.

Mr Packer, who joined the board March 2004, will resign effective from the airline's annual general meeting later this year.

Mr Packer's resignation follows chairman Margaret Jackson's decision yesterday to retire from the board.

Today must be the day for resignations: Mental Marj, James Packer, Eddie McGuire and Paul Wolfowitz!

I guess it will be very dependent on the current schedule for A380 delivery remaining on time.

Is that assuming that the 747s released by the A380 will then be available for SYD-SCL?
