Good luck to them. I'll never take this route (starting in BNE or SYD) over a one stop in ME just to pay extra "premium" to be stuck on a QF plane for 22 hrs.

Personally if flying with a stop I prefer stop over in SIN, HKG or HND much more than the ME; as the two legs are roughly equal rather than one really long leg followed by a very short one.

Not to mention the food is Singapore/HongKong/Japan makes for a yummy stop over and all feel much safer for a single woman should something unfortunate happen.

However if I can get a classic award on direct in J Im sure it would be fine. Ive done DFW-SYD multiple times in both Y and J; and LHR-PER in whY and honestly the difference between say 14 hours (SFO-SYD) vs 17-18 isn't noticeable. WHen your sleeping in J another 2 hours again wont be a problem.
