Qantas Platinum One experiences?

Again, I don’t really see why an adult who has been to the lounge before needs an escort. IMO that’s getting a bit precious. I’d rather those wages to be spent in other areas to reduce wait times for food, drinks, entry, showers etc.
Technically we don’t need an escort to a table in the same way I don’t need the SQ staff to escort me to the Private Room entrance or the CL staff to print, keep and provide my boarding pass upon leaving the lounge or the BA staff to leave their post to escort me to my seat and take my jacket. It’s part of the service.

In a fine dining restaurant, I am capable of placing the napkin on my lap and getting the cutlery from the counter, however those tasks are provided as has part of the service.

It’s some bird walking you 20m to hand you off to another bird, all in one space you can easily walk yourself. Let’s not overstate the service here.

It’s also taking someone away from the front desk which may delay entry to subsequent guests. I stand by what I said earlier, some are being precious here. Chose your battles, rant about what’s important. It’s not a hill I’d choose to die on. The vey existence of the P1 area is not even a published benefit.

It's taking you to the front of the line, so you don't have to wait and waste time.
In LAX I've been taken to bypass everyone and go straight to the front of the security line.
Also when boarding, when there's a whole bunch of people on a full A380 flight blocking the way to the gate, this service bypasses everyone.
Saving time may not be a service to you, but it is a service.
Note this is when I've been P1 and flying F.

We’re talking about dining in the lounge, not TSA or boarding. There shouldn’t be a queue for the P1 dining area in the lounge, escorted or not.

Although TSA? I’ve never heard of that.

You've heard of it now. That's happened twice in the last <6 months for me. I cannot imagine I've been the only one they offer it to 😂

Again, it's the "Qantas Platinum One experiences" thread.

Re dining in the lounge:
Once as P1 in SIN, travelling on a flight with no F, was escorted to the dining area and "handover" done to the attendant there. Sitting in the regular area, not the F/P1/CL area (wasn't aware of it at the time). When the second course was served, we were proactively offered one of the Penfolds wines off menu. The people surrounding our table were not.
I'd say that without the escort, chances are I would not have been offered said wine. Although we'll never truly know otherwise.
There's value in the service provided by the escort. Regardless of how overstated you might believe it to be.

You had a QF staff member escort you through TSA?

But yes, if you present your BP when dining you’ll get the same VIP menu as if you were escorted. It’s really quite simplle. I didn’t realise so many P1s were so precious 😂

Just like many other P1s, the escort occurs automatically.

There's no VIP menu in SIN like there is in SYD - really bad move to make a false statement like that.

I didn't realise you didn't know what the word precious means. You've made many mistakes that define who you are, so there's no surprise there. I'm sorry for your loss.

We were talking about drinks, and you do get access to better drinks in the reserved sections at SIN and LAX. My point was you can just show your boarding pass yourself and you will get these drinks. You don’t need to be escorted.

I’m genuinely curious about the TSA thing as I’ve never been offered it nor have I seen it - a quick search on reddit shows a couple examples of it but also swathes of P1s replying they’ve never been offered it either. So it’s not something I’d be counting on, although I’m going to assume this is a P1 + F thing, not P1 itself. Doesn’t concern me as I have GE and TSAPRE but I am curious.

I’m living my best life, don’t you worry.

Another "P1 Experience" offered without comment, in the spirit of the thread.

This week's travel has started with the usual CBR-SYD Dash-8 connecting to A380 F this morning.

I was allocated 1A on the Dash-8 at checkin (T-22ish). Got to the airport before the earlier flight to SYD departed, was proactively offered to move to that earlier flight. The system moved me to 17C due to loads (very light flight), lounge staff moved me to 3C with a spare seat next to me. I didn't ask for any of the above, just said yes when they offered.

When I arrived at the SYD F lounge there were 2 staff at the desk. One of them stepped away at the point where I was next-in-line to escort two guests to their table. She came back, scanned me into the lounge, asked if I wanted a spa treatment (I declined), asked if I wanted to have breakfast (I did), and stepped away from the desk again to escort me to the P1/F area.

Such jobs are a perfect way to give young girls a chance to work in aviation.

Wow, this place is really living up to its reputation of being a 1950s sausage fest.

Hard to believe that people still think like this in 2026, let alone write or speak publicly in this way.

Goodness. With me having to transfer from QR to TK for my recent trip, I won't be able to reach QR Plat (currently Gold), so all my remaining QR flights are going to be credited to QF - which means I'll be within ~500SCs of P1 by the end of the year with booked travel.

Looks like I'll be reviewing this thread to see if its worth maximising the remaining DSCs ... Or maybe keep the max rollover SCs for Plat next year ...

The sausage fest notwithstanding.
