Qantas operated LAX First/oneworld lounges at TBIT

You won't have to go through security at LAX T4. Only security checkpoint you'll have to go through will be the complete zoo and chaos that is MCO. There are a few calls made in the T4 Flagship lounge to remind QF PAX to make their way to TBIT. The shuttle is every 15-30 min.
The shuttle is every 30 minutes from 4pm. You need to leave the lounge 5 to 10 minutes beforehand as it now departs from gate 45. It can take 15 - 25 minutes to navigate around the airport to the TBIT bus gates at the far north end of the terminal. From there its a further 10 minutes to the *O lounges so using the bus can take up to ¾ hour, lounge to lounge.

I don't use it these days, simply heading landside, staying at the departures level and taking the 5 minute walk to TBIT and resubmitting to security.

At that time of the evening it generally takes me 15 - 20 minutes lounge to lounge.

It will be great when the T4 - TBIT airside connector is competed next year.

Travelling to LAX next week...

Anyone with further updates on the opening date?
This post 16 upgrade indicates mid year, so if next week you are out of luck.
Just read somewhere that the J lounge will now be delayed until mid-year. Qantas says it is not their fault, it is the general upgrades and renovations being done to TBIT itself.

I read somewhere it was going o be May / June but who knows which and that was some time ago.
im hoping it will be ready for my end of May trip. But it unlikely given my luck.
it will probably open the day I get back know just how bad my luck is.

Has anyone been past and seen where its at lately?

Has there been any update on the TBIT-T4 airside connector?
That will make things so much easier.

We have 5 hours lay over next week. Flying n from Vegas on AA, then onto QF12 for the trip home. We were thinking of heading somewhere for an early dinner off the airport, rather than spending it in the OW lounge. Though the AA lounge in T4 doesn't sound too bad.

5 hours is right on the threshold of leaving the airport IMO.
Until QF open the new First Lounge (maybe the Business Lounge if its good enough) I will always use T4 AA Flagship Lounge.
Its not too bad, but the HUGE benefit is that it is usually a hell of a lot more quiet than the QF/Oneworld Lounge. Plenty of shower access etc etc.
AA staff are also very good. I had one of them come and personally tell me that there is only two more buses accross to TBIT left to run.

Re: New LA QP Opens June 17 - AUSBT

I'll be there on the 22nd of June. Very excited. No doubt there'll be multiple reviews and the AFF community will have the place clocked by then.

Re: New LA QP Opens June 17 - AUSBT

Darn. So close
Fly over on the 31 may. Then back on the 11th June
Miss it by 1 week!!!
I have terrible luck

Re: New LA QP Opens June 17 - AUSBT

I'm having trouble orienting the map
For the old TBIT level 5 OW lounge, you'd walk out of the lift and the entrance to both lounges is on your right..

Where is the lift and location of the old lounge in relation to the purple OW symbol below?

Re: New LA QP Opens June 17 - AUSBT

Kangol, I've been trying to work this out myself. I'm fairly sure the current QF lounges are running along the top left portion of this map. You can see the business and first class division running down the middle (horizontally) and the shower area just to the left of the dotted line near the oneworld symbol (i.e. under the Qantas lettering). I imagine the area to the far right will be opening first as the business lounge, but perhaps someone more expert can comment.

Re: New LA QP Opens June 17 - AUSBT

Kangol -
The top 1/3 of the picture is the old TBIT level 5 with I think the old Star lounge on the right, and the old/current oneworld lounge on the left. (or vice versa)

The bottom 2/3 of the picture is the new TBIT part looking out over the main atrium

---

When the new lounge opens (which includes the old star space), the old lounge will close for renovation into what will presumbaly be the new First lounge space.

Re: New LA QP Opens June 17 - AUSBT

Oh, thanks. Makes sense now.
So that means the entrances will stay the same, they've just extended the lounge space..
Anyone want to take a guess as to where the F lounge will be? I'm flying QF F there in July and October so it's likely I'll miss out this year.
Hopefully they make a significant change to their wifi - that is one of the reasons I drop by the T4 AC or F/L prior to going to TBIT..

Re: New LA QP Opens June 17 - AUSBT

I saw this bit at the bottom of the ABT article

Australian Business Traveller will be attending the opening of the Qantas Los Angeles Business Lounge as a guest of Qantas.

Why does ABT get invited on all these junkets and AFF doesn't?

One is a forum made up of many individuals, the other is an online journal/magazine with journalism staff

Re: New LA QP Opens June 17 - AUSBT

I am passing through LAX on the 18th June, if I have time will check it out. Second time I'll be in a new lounge on the second day is been open.

Re: QF/CX/BA open new Los Angeles Business Lounge

Great, will be there tomorrow and will check it out.

Actually I only have a 90min transfer in LAX so I hope I get to go.
