Re: Bid Now Upgrades

Just received a Bid Now Upgrade email for my next O/S flight next Friday.

Details:

  • Current S fare
  • Bid - Min $550 + 5000 points for J

A few questions.

  • Worth it? (8-9 hour flight)
  • Status credits & points. Original fare or new J fare?

Thank you in advance.

FH

Route? Time of day?

Re: Bid Now Upgrades

This is the QF system default for SYD to HKG daytime flight for a flight upcoming Monday. Tell 'em they are dreaming.

Re: Bid Now Upgrades

The offer/range indicator is the same as on NZ for Airpoints One Up upgrade bids....same plusgrade system then....

If it hasnt already been mentioned here NZ swears too that "normal" upgrades still have priority....BTW my experience would actually support that....
..one difference... on NZ any bid by a status holder is increased by a % ....10% for Silver.. 30% for Gold.. 50% for Elite.

Re: Make an offer to upgrade

Minimum for my offer Brisbane to Sydney was 3000 points and $150 cash. Its a 6am flight on a Friday morning.

Re: Bid Now Upgrades

Do bid now upgrades ever come up for upgrading from J to F?

Re: Bid Now Upgrades

Do we know where these bidders feature in the upgrade list?

I remember never putting in for a NOR1 upgrade at Hiltons because it could potentially stop Honors members from getting what they deserve. Does the same apply here, such that someone requesting an upgrade on points could be trumped by someone willing to spend $800 to upgrade ADL-MEL?

Re: Bid Now Upgrades

Now that I have no HH status NOR 1 can be appealing.;)

It is supposed to be after all upgrade requests have been processed so should have no effect nor trump any one requesting classic upgrade.

Though I was once offered a confirmed "instant upgrade" a week out, so obviously before the classics were processed.
Maybe that was based on light loading in J and few requests in the system.
In the event I didn't take it up and my classic upgrade came through normally.

Received a Bid Now invite for QF9 one way on the 23rd so thought I would share some options in terms of points and cash and position of offer as follows. None of these look very inviting or is it just me?

Which fare class have you booked in and what would be the number of points needed to put in an upgrade request just using points (no cash)?

If you have the points putting in a request just using points is pretty much always the best option.

It depends what your points balance is like, what other use you'd have for your points and how much the experience of flying Business is worth to you whether or not to put in a request.

Remember if you're unsuccessful you keep your money and points.

Hi mviy my booking class is S and to me It doesn't represent value.

I do have a good collection of points over 1 million between Mrs Ansett and I.

If I were to request an upgrade directly as a classic reward the points needed would be 120000 points.

A one way J Classic award is 126000 points plus circa $630.00

The post more was to show to others the range of price and points options from minimum to maximum points and the potion that various combinations of these would equate to.

Oh and Yes I appreciate that loading's would indicate even as a WP the possibility of a bid now been successful would be very low.

It's a while since I had such an offer, but aren't the points/$ just linked while you play with the widgets, I thought you could rack down the dollars and the points. Last time I had a successful QF 9 bid I certainly didn't offer any combination of the suggested values and was successful.

Hi downgraded Yes you can mess a round with many many variables available to make an offer. May I ask what you offered? :)

You may, 5000pts + $1260 per pax (actually it was QF10) in mid 2015. This would have been on top of a saver fare, can't remember exactly how much but it wouldnt have been a rip off or I'd have been on a different airline. I seem to recall it came to a little over $2k for the leg which I thought good value.

Update, in Q2 this bid got accepted for an upgrade, in Q3 the same offer was rejected. The latter was high summer though so could have been higher loads etc.

More recently I've just offers to upgrade mel syd when connecting to qf1 or vv from qf2. Annoying.

Melbourne - Sydney, email for bid now offer where the minimum cash I can bid is $45 with 9,800 points. Or I can use 10,000 points and no cash for a regular points upgrade. Do QF hope people don't check these things when bidding?

Not sure if this has a new thread, but got offered on two unique bookings (gf and i booked seperate, both got offers) Must be a light load if we both got offered?
QF162 WLG-SYD
Minimum bid 4000pts + $170AUD
