Certainly gone up in price since being discussed here.
Out of my league.

Gave mine to my Mum who is a NB and flying to LAX from MEL layer in the year. I wonder if I can claim it as a $100 gift :)

As a former WP i've experienced the F lounge and as a SG I still get the J lounge for my next trip whereas my mum would get nothing.

Hopefully she'll end up enjoying a rare lounge visit especially since it's in F. Any ideas what I should recommend so she will get the most of the experience?

Yes, get to the lounge as soon as humanly possible!

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Does anyone know.. is 3 hours before flight the earliest possible time to get into the lounge, as in, check in as soon as desks open and then go straight to lounge, or can you do OLCI and bag drop before the regular checkin desks open?

In the past we have managed to checkin very early by starting our journey from another port I.E BNE and have the bags sorted & BP's all the way through.

If you only have HLO you can OLCI & breeze through.

+1. Routed myself MEL-SYD-LAX instead of MEL-LAX for an upcoming trip for exactly this reason - first F Lounge experience and this routing should give me ~4 hours in F Lounge rather than ~2.5.

The bids are up to $300 per most single tickets on Ebay. However on each of these auctions if you check the bidders they all have a 0-3 feedback. Seems a bit fishy to me.

EBay fishy, surely not, love how the press runs to EBay to get a comment on retailing, never see them run to a Paddies markets operator, to me there is little difference in the two when it comes to being an authoritive source of retail knowledge.

I reckon because they are newbies, they keep bidding it up in the mistaken belief they are winning because they have the highest bid. EBay newbies often take it personally if someone keeps outbidding them. If they just stopped bidding until near the close of the auction, the price wouldn't jump up so hysterically.

Nothing matters until the last few seconds of an eBay auction. I've done over a thousand transactions on eBay and after an initial single bid to get my toe in the water, I never bid again until the very end. I sold a 3-D Blu-Ray of Avatar on eBay for $276.00 because the newbies went nuts for it.

Yeah but check the bidders. All 0-3 feedback bidders pushing the price up.

The lowest I've seen a pass go for is $67.00 on ebay. I've been watching and waiting...

Thought the saturation of the market on ebay would have brought the
price back down, not to be. Someone has purchased 2 passes for
close to $300 each. I've joined the crowd and put mine on sale on
the weekend.

Will surpass the experience for a few dollars.

Ooooh interesting thread! We have one of those passes to FCL we're not going to use so I may put it up on ebay.

EH

A few months ago I chased a few people on Gumtree and Ebay and was prepared to go to $100. (I needed one more pass for the GF, I was provided with just the one in Dec 11). However no luck there. Then, flying out we just took a punt with the beautiful desk angels and happily were let in with one pass. Lovely experience, nice way to start a great trip!
