Qantas First Lounge in Singapore

Round 1:
IMG_6547.jpeg
Chilled soup was very nice. Good choice for Singapore I reckon.
IMG_6549.jpeg
Tuna sashimi - good.
IMG_6552.jpeg
Squid - average. Not the best I've had, but certainly not the worst.
IMG_6554.jpeg
Ox-tail ragout and pasta - simple but tasty.

Lounge pretty quiet (and has been recently apparently, at least prior to QF2 ).

The prawn wontons are one of my favourites there!

Sorry for delay. Here is Round 2:
IMG_6559.jpeg
Wontons, solid as usual. But needed more chilli (or perhaps better mixed with the vinegar).
IMG_6560.jpeg
Laksa was thoroughly enjoyed. I sampled it and agreed it was good.
IMG_6563.jpeg
Chicken rice predictably very bland. But a generous serve and decent for what it is. Improved with a bowl of crayfish on the side, which I enjoyed with some fresh lime.
IMG_6566.jpeg
Sorbet delicious, but a large solid block so took a bit of time to consume.

Good service. Pretty relaxed.

I didn't partake but was offered Tolpuddle Chardonnay as the under the counter special for P1s etc. Have enjoyed that wine in the past. Didn't see anyone else have it but not really sure how special it is.

Is there usually?

I had this dish earlier in the year in January and thought it was pretty underwhelming.
That was Lunar New Year. I thought Qantas, being an Asian carrier and have such presense in Asia should be celebrating with us.

The Hainanese chicken rice and the laksa have always been disappointing. I don't even bother with the laksa anymore. Thought I'd give the chicken rice another go yesterday but, same disappointment...

Qantas is an Australian carrier not an Asian carrier. But I do agree that since it flies to so many Asian destinations that it would be smart to do something for the Lunar New Year and make passengers feel good
Aren’t those red pockets from businesses just added waste? It’s not like they have cash or anything valuable in them do they?

I don't mind the laksa so much but I do wish they'd use the correct noodles!
