Thought it might be good idea to have a thread on the F menus by QF.
I'd welcome anyone who has copies of the menus to post them, including older ones from when the A380 was first in service and 747 menus.
The champagne list is the same, so I've only included it once.

Thanks for posting. Good idea. Would be nice to know as well if in F you could eat any meal at any time, or if you could only have the steak sandwich.

Great to see some Tassie wines on here too (yes, I am very biased). Selling more of these on Epiqure too I see.

The only time I wanted to eat other than at the meal service it was only the steak sandwich. Others have had a different outcome. Possibly if you organised it in advance it would happen, but we had been travelling for 24 hours, I had a bowl of soup and crashed and when I woke up hungry 6 hours later only the steak sandwich was on offer. They did make up a cheese plate for me, after I asked. Emirates make a big thing out of their anytime menu.

Really odd and poor since I have had, in J on QF, the ability to eat whatever was left several hours after the main meal (which I had already eaten!). Probably does pay to ask for your preferred meal to be set aside. Not that you should need to in F.

It did surprise me a bit, but I would just ask next time before we went to sleep - was just dead on my feet though so didn't think at all. I agree that you would expect things to be a bit more proactive in F, but I suppose they need to put things away and there could be food poisoning hazards if they are not geared for anytime serving. I really do like Emirates' (and Etihad's) concept of gearing meals around your needs. Means they have to work very hard though.

I've never had a problem in F (limited experience) or J (more common). QF crew always happy to help and it's never seemed like trouble. But, has come with a warning of it may take 20 minutes - which is fine and perhaps suggests the food is cold stored until needed.

Even fewer EK J and F experiences, but the eat any time option in F is great and I've had more of a sense food is actually 'prepared' onboard in F (FA dons gloves, ties back hair (female), gets out sharper knives, asked me what cheeses I'd like etc). But, they too encourage you to eat at the standard time and I have felt it more of a hassle to ask for something in between.

Back on topic, interesting that there's no tasting menu on QF9 MEL-DXB on either leg?

The crossover between J and F meals is very interesting and disappointing if I'm honest. Long haul J menus would be good in this thread 01439908053.jpg
The Sri Lankan Prawn Curry was pretty nice SYD-LAX in J.
As was the Pumpkin and ginger soup, I had both. This was in June. The Chocolate pot and Churros was also delicious. Didn't realize all three plus other dishes were served downstairs ;)
I was initially disappointed that my upgrade request hadn't gone through but on reflection apart from the vast differences in hard product I don't think the menu is particularly different so less and less upset.

Whoops, didn't see that. But I'd happily allow comments in this thread, as opposed to the other one.

I agree with your first point. To combine F and J menus in the one thread would probably be too much. There are lots of flights >5 hours (as per OW). F deserves to be separated from J ;)

Emirates dine on request service works perfectly in F. As far as anytime dining in J I think Qatar airways does it best. What ever you want from the menu whenever you want. They don't even blink but get to work making it. QF J is nothing like this. If you miss that meal service, in my experience that is it. There are of course substantial snacks like the steak sandwich or for a special meal whatever they load and you can have this in between take off and landing service.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

 - the main difference between F and J menus was that in First the cheese was 'specially hand selected' whereas in J it was just plain ol' 'selected'.

The end is nigh.

How do these wines compare to F in other airlines? I'm no wine expert so my go to for comparison is usually price at Dan Murphys and these seem a lot cheaper than I've seen on EK & CX.

While personally I don't regard a more expensive wine as necessarily being better quality, I'd say the consensus from those who travel in F regularly is that QF isn't quite up to par. That said, I like the variety, obviously there's strong Aussie representation. And there's a new wine panel in place, so a revamp may be on the cards.

There are people who will scream to the rooftops about (say) 2012 Teusner Albert Shiraz being served in F instead of something more expensive... but wankers are perhaps the target market, so it's a difficult balance to strike.

I can usually find something very drinkable on
QF F.
My last two flights have had RWT and Cullen's Diana Madeline so nothing to complain about there.
I also like the current selection of Champagne.
