Qantas First Class menus

i forgot to have the steak sandwich on my recent flight on 93. Good reason to give Mrs NoName for why I need to do it again. :D

I've never had it - I always fill myself up during the meal service.

Must try it next flight as it looks pretty good!

That was my problem too. After two breakfasts in the F lounge, the tasting menu and about a dozen glasses of champagne & wine I totally forgot about it. I was even more disappointed when Mrs NoName told me the one she had a few days later on QF11 was great.

Will be seriously looking at the champagne availability on Monday with Mrs C on her first QF F flight ( but does have EK F as a reference point )
Please don't let Nancy be the aircraft! LOL

Nancy is doing QF11 today. Is that yours? :)

goodness.. I like the sound of that DP P2 (puts us P1s to shame :D ) - did you try it?

I'd love if they had that on trans tas, but of course not (and I note the rose seems to have gone too - not just on t.t.?)

anyway the EK wines have always been very very very good. previous flights the've had a German wine (I don't recall the name) that was sublime, served perfectly chilled (a white, obviously) and delicious. EK wines have beaten QF for mine for years.

Absolutely wonderful wine. I used to love the Rosé but they don't have that anymore. The P2 is much better. Had several.:) To save double posts please see two posts here for wine menus and gratuitous photos...

I had the Dom P2 DXB to LHR in August. Awesome.

I am in the SYD F Lounge and inquired about the decanter. The helpful server said no decanters during school holidays, as traffic in lounge is 2-3x normal levels. I didn't know this, but it might have been mentioned previously.

I'll report back next Wednesday before QF1 if the decanter is there as school holidays should be well and truly over :)

The P2 is listed as being on my EK flight from DXB-CDG after QF1 so I'm looking forward to giving it a try.

Does anyone know if the onboard First menu has changed in line with the changes to the F Lounge Menu which came in at the start of December? Luckily for me, I have two trips in F to both LAX and LHR in the next few weeks. Would love a look at some menus (both outbound and inbound) if anyone has been on board in F in the last week or so?

I was on QF10 at the end of November and the menu on each sector seemed pretty "usual" to me. The best thing was that we had the Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill champagne on both sectors - and it didn't run out. When they were presenting that on the LHR-DXB sector, there several appreciative sighs in the full F cabin on that sector.

I had the seared sea bass with shtake mushrooms, spiced tofu, grilled cos and XO sauce. This was a real eye opener! It was incendiary. I love hot and spicy food so I was most impressed that something that strongly flavoured was offered. I often have the "Rockpool Bar & Grill Style" dish, mostly because the side is often one of the really nice ones from the RBG menu, but on both sectors it was the rosemary roast potatoes, which was interesting enough against the other choices!

I do wish QF would do a better job with the ice cream on those sectors though. Haagen Daaz offers some interesting flavours (eg, on CX in J I've had a choice of vanilla, chocolate or milk tea (yumm)) and is a pretty consistent product. The QF ice cream looked artisinal, but was a bit dull, truth be told.

Doesnt make me yearn for F I have to say.

It's not too bad, but some of the previous Neil Perry designed menus have been better.

The smoked salmon etc in the soup and salad selection was offered as a "seasonal special" on a previous menu rotation. I tried it then and it was very good, so perhaps customer comments have led to it being a "normal" menu item.

The rosemary roast potatoes with the beef are a dull, dull, dull side. Bring back the potato & cabbage gratin or the mac & cheese!!!

Nice one. How was the St Henri 2013?
Was it from this month?

I was pleasantly surprised, one of the better lists I've seen in the last two years. I have both the St Henry and OneSevenOne at home. Would give both some more cellaring time but they drink well now.

The star of the list for me was Art Series. Other airlines may serve all kinds of fancy French Chardonnays in F but this one was the best I had in the air so far.

This is from last week, QF12 LAX-SYD Sep 2017.
They've changed the breakfast energiser to a "healthier" type of juice.
Dessert wine is less sticky, but still good. Shame about the other wines (champagne excluded).

Noticed the peach and pear nectar were also removed but that's been the case since at least earlier this year.
