Qantas extends status extensions until end June 2023 (previously December 2022)

I have not flown current membership year. If I understand correctly I just need to book 1 QF flight before 31/May/22 and I keep Platinum for another year.

Thanks Qantas.
Hey stranger :)

Yes, book by end of May to fly by end of June, assuming your membership year ends May.

Yes - must be booked by the status holder (so two bookings needed if there are two pax with the same plan), and noting travel on that booking must also be prior to June 30 2022 (not sure if that means commenced by, or completed by that date)

Cheers,
Matt.

I thought so. Thanks. I've got Lifetime Gold and for the travel we're doing Platinum is not worth the added effort but good to keep for another year.

I've just spoken to Qantas about this. They are aware of the issue and are currently fixing it. Most people should have the correct status showing again on their account by the end of today.
I was part of the January 31 debacle, pushed back to silver. Digital status was fixed to gold same day. But they still sent out a new silver card....

Status Extension - members with a status end date between July - December 2022 NEW

Eligible members with a status end date between 31 July and 31 December 2022 who reside in Australia or New Zealand and are unable to earn the Status Credits needed to retain their status will receive a 12-month status extension provided that before the end of their current Membership Year, they simply make at least one new eligible booking for travel before 31 December 2022.

Additionally, Qantas will rollover accrued Status Credits for eligible members up to a maximum amount, from their eligible Membership Year to help kick-start their new Membership Year.

Wow! And SC rollover as well! With international flying back in the cards now as well, there will be a lot of happy AFFers here. Of course, I can now complain that as someone with a February anniversary, those in November and December are getting a better deal than me 😩 and Jan/Feb members should be given a other extension too. 🤣

Qantas cannot please all the passengers all the time!

More generous than I was expecting

These offers state they're for members "who reside in Australia or New Zealand". Does anyone know what has happened in the past for QFFs outside of A/NZ?

Previously was the same extensions without any of the flight booking requirements.

Edit: You can view here on the UK website (unless it redirects to your country)

Nothing yet this time, but maybe just slow on updating the website.

I'll probably make the SC from flying J around Europe on BA,IB,AY (assuming my IB flights eventually post) but the eligible QF sectors has been difficult especially with QF1/2,9/10 being considered 1 instead of 2.

That can be resolved by flying indirect e.g. Booking to fly to Sydney and choosing the QF10 flight with a flight from Melbourne to Sydney.

Anyway like you say hopefully those based overseas get an extension without any flying requirement.

The rollover provision certainly gives some incentive to fly. It will also help in the following year given that normal operations (what ever that means nowadays) may not be back until '24. It certainly provides some certainty for planning.

Guess I'll make a solitaire booking by years end to keep status going another year, although for nothing really as dislike flying QF due to the call centre absolute debacle. Has completely put me off flying QF while that shamozzle keeps up.

I will wait till at least tomorrow before booking just in case there are any issues with the computer systems going by GMT despite what the offer T&Cs say.

Me too, I was researching what domestic flights I could completed before end of Dec I've already run out of long weekends, I want to make sure Ive flown before end July so that things roll-over nicely.

If it is just a domestic flight on QF metal there should be reason to have to call QF, domestic itineraries can be changed online if needed without any intervention.
