Dumb question alert for the brains trust: Is it possible to make a standalone Qantas classic rewards booking with Emirates from Malta to Larnaca (Cyprus)? Either by calling Qantas, or somehow online.

I can't get Malta to appear as a destination unless I start with a multi-city first leg in Rome FCO, but the routing is bad (from Rome, to London, then on to Malta), and charges don't make it worth it.

It’s because Qantas moved Emirates from Partner table to Qantas table yesterday. Apparently these two tables have different rules to release classic rewards seat. Qantas has confirmed they are working on it and trying to get it restored.
strange that J reward seats are not affected though?

did you get in touch with Qantas?

I did, and was told this matter has been escalated to their IT and Frequent Flyer teams for investigation. The flights, which are not affected, are the ones that have sharecode with Qantas. It's all because they simply moved table and didn't set up Emirates properly. As result, all the F class reward seats and the flights without QF sharecode are no longer appearing in the Classic Flight Reward search results.

Submitting an online complaint form might pressure them to resolve the issue more quickly.

I'm not sure I believe that sadly as the issue seems more widespread..

If you get past the AI, or we cannot search availabilities here for you, and availability is subject to EK etc etc.

Definitely something going on with EK and the lack of Classic reward seats Oz-DXB.
None in the 400k seat release.

It looks like an attempt to "burn" points reducing the points debt, through the use of "points planes". Rather like forcing people to take some annual leave to reduce the liability on a business. See the video:

QF can’t release additional EK seats (not theirs to release).

Yes, they could have been deliberately holding back but if those seats had been taken in the meantime then they’re gone. Not sure why QFF wouldn’t want peeps to have used their points on EK before 05 July (when it cost more points)….?

While I agree, and have been saying there is something up with EK from AU to DXB they wouldn't be on the 400k points planes as it's not QF metal

Plus those points planes are kinda useless as you end up with a one way seat and can't get back on QF. However I did get one last year PER-LHR on QF and had to return on SQ

Anyways at least ADL-DXB is working now, as long as you want Y class...........

Looks like still not fixed yet today. Still not seeing the many missing F class reward seats.
