Qantas Economy Plus Launching Feb 2026

Just sat down on XZP which has been reconfigured. Row 1 has masses of legroom and row 4 about the same as it use to. So probably that’s a bsi thing.

No cabin divider either. Thought I suspect because the business cabin has moved back it’s to difficult to move the divider on the bsi aircraft (plus VXC) as it’s actually attached to the luggage bin to pivot down.

You can just make out the residue from the adhesive where it was attached which if it was still installed would be over row 3’s headrest.
Yep I saw that todayv
My two 737 flights over the past couple of days have been on the new config. The usual old hanging perspex divider was in place between J and the newly cavernous row 4. Perhaps some aircracft had them temporarily removed for some reason. FWIW both flights were on non-BSI aircraft.

I had 5A on both flights with a 5B shadow in both cases. Only a smattering of other empty seats, including a few other forward middle seats, presumably also shadows.

As a newly minted WP I'm of course happy with the additional legroom at no extra cost. But for many years as a SG doing too many Golden Triangle flights in Y, I benefitted from getting seats in rows 4 - 8 on most flights at T-80 - and strategically getting plenty of de-facto shadows when there's a higher status pax in the row. I guess T-24 is the new T-80 for Golds.
I think so

Hi guys sorry if this has been answered before. I am just curious.
Based on the new rules (rare given everyone has some sort of status these days)

1) if we have a plane with say 2 gold only (of course they will get the front extra legroom seats) no other higher status, will they just leave the front section and seats free if everyone else don’t want to pay ? Surely they would need to distribute the weight for flying purposes and balance. Particularly a full flight.
Or
2) a full plane with nobody with status; surely again they will need to allocate some people to the front?

Yes they do

Often the filled up plane is another cancelled flight. Sometimes QF
Often JQ
Had some interesting characters descend into 4B …

Just booked an A220 flight and got the "earlybird offer" for row 4 DEF in April while 4AC, which I think might have more leg room (?), were blocked.

BTW there are now 3 QF flights a day in and out of MCY, all A220s, on the days I looked. Pineapple adding it to his possible airports list again. Previously the main QF offer out of MCY was a single lunchtime 737 and at lunchtime the airport departures lounge at MCY resembles the black hole of Calcutta. Avoid like the plague!

Curious to see that the economy plus middle seats are priced the same as the aisle and window seats. Are people paying for those or is that to increase the chance that premium pax will have an empty seat next to them? As a gold, I see that there are still one or two economy plus window seats free on my upcoming PER-SYD flight on Sunday. Not sure whether to try to nab one or whether to stick with the aisle seat I have already assigned just a little further back. I think I’d rather have an empty seat next to me than the extra space in front, if the middle seats are selling.

Lt me continue that thought
Mid arvo flight from MEL to ADL, everyone in Y+ has an empty seat next to them.
On departure upgrade was available but can't justify it in that situation!
Just had my first E+ flight. SYD-ADL on a B737. I got a free offer to sit in 4A 72 hours before departure. (Had booked 5A for free as a WP.) There was someone in 4D, but the rest of row 4 was empty. Most of the other E+ passengers in other rows had empty seats next to them.
Given the amount of leg room in E+, and the fact that the shadow appears to hold, I am wondering about the wisdom of using points for upgrades to J on refurbished planes going forward. Especially given the 'variable' nature of the catering in J these days. I have a trip from ADL-WLG return at the end of the month, and I'm thinking of cancelling my TT upgrade requests now...

Given how much the points price has increased for J it's definitely worth thinking about.
Gone are the days when you could at least rely on getting a proper meal option.

I agree. It also applies to paid tickets. Yesterday, I was looking to book SYD-HBA mid March. Y on some flights were available for $199 each way but J was from $600 upwards to over $1000 each way. Decided for such a short secondary sector to book Y instead of my usual J in light of the dismal catering. In the booking process, seat selection came up and pleasantly surprised to see the Y+ seating. Booked Y at a fraction of the cost and selected 4C both flights. I think it's Y for most domestic flights for me from now on. Happy as Larry

I was wondering if some J pax would save some $$ and go Y+ to have that leg confort, albeit loosing the wider seat, armrest and catering (and sc). Looks like there will be some candidate.

It seems the catering has already gone, but J pax continue to pay for it until now.
