Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Yes, that aircraft is A333 VH-QPE that took off from SYD at 1157 AEST on Saturday 28 June.

QF30 arrived ex HKG in MEL today at 1017 hours, 172 minutes late. It transformed into QF35, the 1205 hours MEL_SIN airborne at 1345 with forecast arrival for A333 VH-QPG at 1921 hours, 66 minutes behind schedule.

UPDATE: QF59 was in the sky from BNE at 1604 hours so HND gate arrival should be about 0128 hours, 318 minutes late.
that will be costly for many travellers as there is almost zero public transport at that time available

Is "Cancelled" the new normal for QF? That is a rhetorical question. QF go to a lot of trouble to ensure everyone accepts that the flight schedule is only an aspiration and your bundle of rights may in no way reflect the schedule you relied on when you booked. Even though the schedule is irrelevant to QF, the excess fare they charged for higher demand flights or more acceptable departure times, is only another potentially delayed or cancelled flight.

On Sunday 29 June 2025, QF64 (A388 VH-OQK) on QF64 from JNB arrived SYD 35 minutes early at 1410 hours.

It was most unusually forming QF1, the 1450 hours SYD-SIN_LHR. This is not normal, so presumably another A380 had failed. It took off at 1718 with SIN gate arrival forecast for 2301 hours, 106 minutes late.

The Saturday 28 June QF1 arrived LHR on Sunday at 0855 hours, 140 minutes late with VH-OQH.

A333 VH_QPB as QF59, the 1105 hours SUNday SYD up to HND was airborne at 1234 hours with a 68 minutes late arrival at 2118 hours suggested.

A332VH_EBN is operating the 1205 hours MEL-SIN QF35 that did not take off until 1558 hours, so arrival is likely at about 2127 hours mid evening local time, 192 minutes tardy.

On Tuesday 1 July 2025, strong southwesterly winds have resulted in SYD only using the east-west runway, with arrivals from the east.

Many flights are likely to be delayed. QF740, the 1245 hours ADL-SYD (B738 VH-VYB) took off at 1304 hours, only four or five minutes late, with gate arrival likely at 1547, 42 late after a fairly lengthy holding pattern over the Cullerin Ranges (between Yass and Goulburn, NSW).

From the BOM site, rainfall has moderated in Sydney, but on Wednesday 2 July 2025, QF127, the scheduled midmorning 1020 hours to HKG is delayed until an expected pushback at 1500 hours mid afternoon for A333 VH-QPG. The latter has been in Sydney since last night at 1826 hours when it arrived as QF535 from BNE 126 minutes late on a day when the east-west runway was the sole option.

QF143, the 0855 hours morning SYD to AKL was not airborne until 1227 hours with predicted gate arrival 1710 hours, 185 late for B738 VH-VZJ.

B789 VH-ZNB is on Tuesday 1's QF5, the 1935 hours evening PER-FCO (Rome) due to arrive on 2 July 108 minutes late at 0748.

Not a cancellation or delay, but I got a late night notification from QF that QF1093 DRW-ADL was equipment change from QFLink E190 to Alliance E190 with no J cabin. Grrrh. 3.75h flight. Cash fare on DSC. Would rather a J cabin than any refund.

Onboard now. It's pretty clapped out and I'm not looking forward to the next 3.75h.

And now the actual cancellation: I was connecting at ADL to QF694, which has been cancelled because apparently there's some weather at MEL. The QF Pub has announced that everyone on that flight has been rebooked to QF696, but I've lost my preferred row 2 seating and am in row 1. Grrrh.

Oh no row 1

Seems like a row over a row 🚣

Wednesday 2 July's QF9 (evening 1835 hours PER_LHR) is expected to depart at 1900 hours local time on Thursday 3, while the latter date's QF9 has been cancelled.

If there were say 190 passengers booked on each, they won't fit into one (delayed) flight.

This will have repercussions for QF10 LHR-PER.

A333 VH-QPD on QF127, the 1020 hours midmorning SYD-HKG was airborne at 1217 so expected gate arrival becomes 79 minutes late at 1919 hours.

A332 VH-EBB is operating QF35, the scheduled 1205 pm MEL-SIN in the sky at 1628 so gate arrival is forecast for 2218 hours late tonight, 243 late.
